That all the relics in 3.0 is basically scrapping all the old relics and that will be a brand new relic chain?

When you see someones glamour with non matching boots
Yes, the old relics will be obsolete and not connected to the new ones at all (besides an unknown bonus of sorts for having completed it). They also recently said they'll nerf the quests so that you can still get the Zodiacs for glamour purposes.
There is no apostrophe in Au Ra.
Stop adding one three years later.
So, how far can you get with the Zodiacs for glamour? Will they only get to their basic form with no way to upgrade them?

You'll probably be able to do the same quests and stuff, they might only buff the drop rates for atmas/zodiac/alex items or increase the amount of "lights" you get. They should make it so you only need 1 book/stat after you get your Atmas. However, it kinda helps to populate low level dungeons too. I'm not sure about Alexandrite though. How can you even nerf that? The only thing that comes to my mind, is basically giving you a shit ton of these. The Materia prices will probably drop a lot with the new tier 5 soon to be implemented.
By taking the RNG out of it and straight up selling them for half the tomes those mysterious maps cost. If it's true they're going to be LESS than useless, it makes no sense why they wouldn't practically hand them to you at that point.
I have to admit, i'm a little saddened by this news. I stated FFXIV in feb this year and have recently started on my relic (up to getting alexandrite for the scroll) Does this mean I should stop?
Question for those who have completed their Zeta's, Is there adequate time before HW from the point I am at to complete it? How much time would I need?
I have zeta for both ninja and warrior. For ninja it took me 3.5 days to get 75 alex. But that involved around 10 hours per day fate farming in middle la noscea that got me 20-25 alex per day and getting the rest from allied seals and maps. For collecting 2000 light it also took me about 3.5 days of non stop grind. Getting the dungeon drops all depends on luck though but, it took me just over a week to get all 16 drops.
I went from zodiac to zeta for ninja the day it was first implemented which took 13-14 hours of grinding. The second time I did on warrior I spread it out trough 3-4 days grinding for 3-4 hours a day. It'd will take another 3-5 weeks for you to finish from where you are.
It's not that the old relics, nor the quests, are going away at all.

I feel sorry for those people who have spent hours, days, weeks, months on their Relic Weapons, and many of them several Relic Weapons.
But, I guess there was always a chance that the Relic would be replaced sooner or later.
Good thing for the new people that recently jumped into FXIV, as they don't have to feel all to left out with the new exp and a "fresh start" when it comes to gearing up.
I hope the "compensation" from owning a fully upgraded Relic in 2.x will be somewhat acceptable by the community.
They mentioned that people who DID complete the relic would be "taken into consideration," with no details further provided.
Also, the new relic isn't coming until 3.1, which is at LEAST a month to two months after launch. So the old relics will remain relevant for at least that long, as they've ALSO said our dreadwyrm/ironworks gear will "keep" a little longer than we're expecting.
