clearly it is the buyer fault for not collect enough information before decide to buy the plot. I do feel bad for the situation but there is really nothing you can do or it is your fault when the other party does not collect enough information before buy.

You did what you agreed to -- what is the norm for situations like these -- and you are in the right.

In addition, one should always make sure they're ready to pick up a plot when agreeing to buy a relinquish. The only thing you could've done better is ask if he was a second lieutenant. But many wiki guides say that all you need to be is second lieutenant with any Grand Company. I honestly wouldn't have known this, myself.

As bad as you must feel, this is between two other parties now.
Why is it the developers fault that the prospective buyer DOESN'T KNOW THE RULES? The FAULT, if any must be leveled, is SOLELY with the first prospective buyer.

They lost the right to claim inexperience about a decade ago, you know. Right now what we are seeing is a distinct refusal to face the reality of how their playerbase behaves. Players are going to gouge one another in any and every way that they can. If the developer leaves systems in place that are open to exploitation, players will exploit them.

This situation is truly awful and I hope that the GMs can sort it out, but the onus is squarely on SE's shoulders to fix these blatant issues with the so-called player housing.

I love how everyone here feels the blame should be on the buyer yadda yadda... when really, why isn't there a way to safely transfer land? It screams poor foresight from Square Enix, and quite frankly I'm ashamed to have even given them the money I have already for this game with how poor they're handling it. They're pushing an expansion release before even fixing serious problems with their current holdings. Depressing, overall.

Valid points but still doesn't change anything in this situation..

I wouldn't buy a Miner's Pickaxe to glam a Warrior weapon and expect a refund when that doesn't work now would I? or buy a Hildibrand/Nashu portrait and ask for a refund because it's smaller than I thought? You don't get a refund for your own stupidity..

Really, the only way I would place blame on SE for a player to player trade gone wrong is for items costing more than 1 million gil.. There's really no security against a person paying only 1 million, getting the item and running. THAT needs to be fixed, House trading? I'm all for the option to trade, but we don't even know if SE intends for that to happen.

Because SE doesn't want players to be able to sell housing plots to other players. There is little enough housing already without players buying up extra houses in hopes of making a resale profit.

It's simply that they didn't make the rules against it effective enough. They should probably have set something like having the house plot go back on the market at some random time anywhere from 6 hours to 7 days after it's relinquished. That might be enough to eliminate this workaround of paying people to relinquish the plot, since the buyer couldn't expect a guaranteed chance at it.

Paying people to relinquish a house is a clunky workaround for something that's not supposed to be possible at all. If SE wants it to be impossible, the solution isn't to make it easy and straightforward to avoid the clunky workaround. It's to do a better job of making it impossible (which also avoids the clunky workaround).
