if another tank vokes off of you, and you cant get threat back, then u should just let them have it. you are making things worse by trying to fight them for it.

I usually tank in sword oath and strength gear. tanks 'voke all the time and cant keep hate on the boss. if they take it and I see im not getting it back I just go do w/e off tanks do in the specific fight, which is usually alt tab and see whats new on reddit.

It's funny all the comments about OT'ing. I agree and almost prefer it due to more activity and challenge. Over the last couple days, I have just initiated MT and asked if someone wants to take over after the first boss. Seems to be working out well. I think the big thing is communication and just enjoying it. We will always have the dbags, but show me a game/rl world where there is no dbags...

I've already stated it in other threads, but I'll state it here too.

I've only ever called MT twice in the Crystal Tower stuff. Once during ST, and once during LofA. In ST, it was actually reasonable and I actually got to MT most of the way. (I think the other Tanks initially tried to pull hate off me, but couldn't. Their efforts were in vain) It wasn't until the final boss that the other Tanks started really flashing their e-peens at me and insisted on provoking the final boss off of me, and then constantly to each other. I just turned on Sword Oath and went to work that way.

LofA was what convinced me to never MT again. I stepped up to Tank the Behemoth, only for half the DPS and the other Tanks to start doing everything possible to keep Behemoth aggroed on them instead of letting me establish hate. (A DPS launched an early attack then kept going) And they had the nerve to taunt me about it, which resulted in some other people on the alliance calling out those people. "There seriously need to be less trolls in this game." Is what it amounted to.

I've only ever OT'd in the Crystal Tower stuff since. Especially since I keep noticing tank players that are too busy having e-peen wars on the biggest foe in the room and COMPLETLY ignore the other enemies in the room, leaving them to chew the DPS and Healers. Course, with some of the trollish DPS players out there, I can't blame players for wanting to avoid the tank roles all together. But that's a different topic of complaint that I've gone over in other threads already.

Yeah, Labyrinth is just a complete trainwreck, six tanks is far too many, and even when an encounter technically has stuff for them to do (like towers on Behemoth) nobody wants to do it. Yesterday I think I had at least three different tanks provoking Iron Giants off of each other and zero people on towers. Like, I really don't care who picks up adds, but don't go grabbing adds off of another tank who's already got them just so you can drag them halfway across the room and cleave all the meteors.

Sorry to hear about all the tanking drama. This must be a datacenter-specific issue.

In all the runs I've had from CT (when it first launched) to ST to WoD, on our datacenter it's always:

    B Alliance = MT

Then other Alliances are tasked with other stuff, like back when CT1 was a thing, C Alliance would always take the Iron Giants on King Behemoth, and now on WoD, C Alliance is usually Wolfsbane duty for Cerberus.

As a bit of additional irony, I was in LotA yesterday, doing my OT thing. Got to King Behemoth. Other WAR in my party calls Iron Giants. Awesome. I plop down by a tower and prepare to push a button.

What I didn't expect was to sprint between three towers to push buttons. 6 tanks. One Main, One Off-tank. That leaves 4 tanks to handle four towers. So where the HELL were the other two tanks? Oh yeah, fighting the main tank for hate.

    ... Idiots.

... and I really hate calling people names in this game.

Although it would seem like common sense for a tank to identify an already tanked target and leave it alone, some players choose to disregard their role in the overall encounter, and play their own mini-games of "superiority" against other tank players, not realizing that their behavior quickly makes the rest of us aware of their level of maturity.

On ST and WoD I tend to take charge of MT spot if the fight is out of control. I enjoy playing it by ear and tanking in a way where an otherwise routine encounter can still hold an element of unpredictability.
If I do notice that the other 2 tanks are still gearing up, I offer them the choice, this way I am not undermining their skill as a player with assumptions, while allowing them to enjoy their game however they wish.
Please realize that if we want to have a great time in a player community who is fun, kind and helpful, we are responsible to hold those standards for ourselves. To everyone else, YOU are "the other guy"

If I can tell i have better gear then I just do the tanking, if not then I try to out threat anyways unless it's the hell hound or final boss.

it's kinda sad how during Towers runs, tanks tend to stand still and do nothing waiting for god knows what, when we are at the trash room...

but they are so quick to pull aggro on bosses

just as sad as Tanks that wait for a divine intervention or something during light farm parties, and then preceed to provoke off the other tank as soon as he pulls.

(or use flash on Garuda to try to steal aggro from the MT D: )

I usually run as a Whitemage (i122) in CT runs, I rarely go as a Warrior (i130) due to the fact of fight over MT.

In some cases I MT'ed the full raid since I was nominated, otherwise I OT like a boss picking the adds when the other two-five tanks fight over MT and try to aggro the Boss, while no one of them pick up the adds.
