    Calling MT huh?

So I have to rant a little over last night's experiences in World of Darkness. I am i120 geared Paladin and know WoD like the back of my hand when it comes to tanking (8 runs last night alone for "light"). Every run I ask if there is anyone that has not ran it so we can explain as we go vs just trying for a quick clear. This was done for me when I was first running it and I think it's the right thing to do.

After saying "heya!" to the group and other Alliances, I ask who would like to MT or if they would like me to. I usually never get a response and say "ok, i'll MT then". Then comes the first boss....

I am usually always the one to /readycheck and before it's done...a ninja pulls the boss. Ok, thats typical... Then another tanks begin Provoking off me. Then the fights between the alliances come in. "<t> has the bigger di$%! He is tanking." "No, my tank <t> has the bigger di$%, he's tanking!". "Well whoever pulls is MT!" At this point I reiderate that I DONT CARE WHO IS MAIN TANKING! Just call it and move on!!!

This is mostly a rant, but I would like everyones opinion. Should the MT be determined at the begining of the raid? Even in older content where everyone is geared, there will more than likely always be someone new and it's a good habit to create right? Does it not seem a bit unorganized to have the MT be the one who pulls?? Please let me know your thoughts and thanks for reading!

Ideally you'd assign jobs at the start, and give the other tanks the opportunity to be MT on different bosses instead of just hogging them all yourself.

In practice, I usually go ahead on the principle that if you want a job done right do it yourself. More often than not nobody wants to MT until someone else does, and then it turns into a dick-swinging contest about who can pull aggro off of each other most effectively.

The only thing which especially annoys me is if I'm quite clearly getting into position to pull (e.g. circling around Five Headed Dragon's arena so I can pull him from the back) and someone else lazily pulls the boss directly into everyone stood by the entrance and makes a complete mess of getting them into position.

Agree with you 100%. I just wish people would call it and not be idgets about it...

    Tips:

    - Do a ready check before you actually get to the boss, makes it quicker to get the pull going.

    - Explaining fights in WoD doesn't really happen unless you have a macro for it. A pull will happen whether you want it to or not, and that can result in chaos. Either set up macros for explanations or don't bother at all.

    - Usually, when I do WoD on tank (I don't anymore, but the more I run as DPS the more I think I should...), I just check the map to see if everyone's at the boss. If they are, I pull. If they aren't, I wait.

    - Since CT, fighting for MT has never been a good idea. If another tank pulls threat, just let them tank it. There's no point doing the back and forth, especially on the Ahriman boss of WoD where you'll end up killing everyone, or get everyone hit by White Breath on the Five-Headed Dragon. Just switch to SwO/turn Defiance off and let them have a field day.

I stopped going as tanker for WOD runs. I had the same exact experience you had on every run. Some dipshit tanker wants to play I have the bigger epeen game, no one calls for MT or anything. I had always gladly volunteered to main tank. Once I gotten my Demon body for my WAR, I was done.

it would be great if future content encourages tank swapping like in LotA where you take turns in damaging thanatos

TBH more mechanics like Thana's little ghost parlor trick would be nice, yeah. Even in 8-mans. Gives every an opportunity to tank rather than a single tank getting all the important experience. XD

I generally just save myself the hassle and MT everything. You couldn't rip threat off me if you wanted too, but it is fun to sometimes watch the other tanks try. After a few GCDs they generally give up and go do other things.
