Lol she /used/ a /heavily modified and entirely covered up/ miqo'te model, and now uses her own unique model... auri characters look like their official concept art for the most part, anything less than official regardless of how amazing is unimportant compared to the finished product .

I think they still look cool. Despite the concept art. And I'm sure that the reason they look the way they do now was simplicity. Meaning if they had used the concept art they would have had to redo all the armor graphics. This way they just have to redo the Helms.
I can see why people might be upset with the size difference between male and female. The women do look like they got hit with the midget stick. Perhaps the size will play into the lore, where the men do all the work and the women rule / assassinate stuff. Yugiri does seem to be the leader at least of her group.
Other than size I think Yoshi-P said you could make the males and the females either be cute or succubus like.
Currently my only problem with them is I can't decide if I want to switch to a male Au Ra or a female Au Ra lol.
No, ears is where our likeness begins and ends
Right, like how height and a human like appearence of sorts is where the resemblance between au ra and miqo'te begins and ends~ unless... o.o are you an au ra with pointy ears and no tail..?
Am i an au ra with an abnormally low rate of growth and increased cute factor? DX what happened to our scales???
No, for females atleast is a miqote with horns instead of ears and a shaved tail with a wee bit of scales here and there most of which you wont see later on cos of gear.
Btw most of the appreciators so far also seem to be miqote players and theres a reason for that. And again out of all the races the miqote model was used for the first appearance of an Au Ra which just shows how much they resemble the cats in this game.
Deny all you like but you can only fool a blind person

The concept art is neat, the males look so fierce!
I can see why they went with a more "human" look though. IMHO, beastlier races would be less popular in FFXIV than in a game like, say, GW2. Sure, the Charr may be popular, but GW2 is an alt-friendly game, while FFXIV is not. In most other MMO's, your tank is not also your healer and your DPS and your dark edgy sword user and your healing mage all wrapped in one package like in FFXIV. I'd guess that while many people like playing beast-like races, if they had to choose just one race to play as everything, they'd go with something that they consider versatile. Which is why I daresay we'd see a lot more Roegadyns around if FFXIV weren't a "one character" game.
