Has there been anything about changing the color of the scales? I'm actually torn between the two clans because of their color scheme. I want the dark horns of the Xaela, but want the earthy skin tones of the Raen.

I guess it would defeat the purpose of lore if both the Raen and Xaela can have light/dark scales, but one can dream;;

I'm just a little concerned that it looks like horn type is determined by face type. Anyone know if this is the case?

I would hate if I loved one face but hated horns that come with it..

But according to this picture your fears might be real.



At first it just looks like where you pick different horns.
But look closer and you see the shape of the eyes and face differs aswell.
So maybe the horns are attached to the faces.

Edit: As I don't know Japanese I can't tell what the text say. So if anyone knows tell us. ^^

From what I saw from the nico stream the face type determines the horn type as well as how much of their body (and face) is covered by scales.

That's just face type, like all the races have - face type affects which eyes/jaw etc you can choose, as well as the base face shape. I bet in Au Ra it affects your choice of horns as well?

But I can live with it. I bet it'll grow on me in the end. ^^
Just like in RL, we don't choose on how we will look. Unless you wanna pay big money for it.

We've seen a couple different colors for each clan (white and brown for Raen, black and blue for Xaela) but I've been assuming there's more variation than that. I'm a little surprised none of these screenshots have shown that part of the customization process.

Also I'm assuming the justification for having face and horn style being tied together is that the horns act as sort of an extension of the "personality" portrayed by the face. Would still be nice to mix and match though. If there isn't any technical reason, like using up more data to give us that option, it would be nice if they could let us choose horns separately.

I agree with you 100%, but sadly it seems they wanted to make a race that would be popular with everyone and female Miqo'te is the most popular race/Gender (yes it isnt male hyur, the only reason why Male hyur numbers are so high is because of bots)

They also wanted to make a race where they don't have to recreate 100% of the gears for them.
