Of Duty Finders and Cutscenes (and a forum question)

I was going to post this under the Gameplay\UI section, but I got an error saying my "main character's level is not high enough." My main is currently lv.43. How high does it have to be?

My reason for posting is that I was in the duty finder (for an hour) and was turning in a quest (as another class) which unexpectedly started a cut scene.

That's when the prompt for the duty finder popped up, and I couldn't accept. I tried to rush through the scene but wasn't fast enough. Got kicked from the queue.

I know you can usually hit ESC to skip a cut scene, but it also will close open windows.

My question is: Could I have used ESC to skip the cut scene, or would it have closed the duty finder (refusing the duty)?

And for that matter, why doesn't the DF let you choose to commence and switch to the right class and kill a scene like that? It could just treat it as though you hadn't started the scene so you could do it later.

The posting restrictions for the forum can be found here. I'm going to probably assume you've made too many posts today and thus can now only post in here until it resets.

Sadly the FFXIV forum wasn't always like this - the Beta forum unfortunately is what precipitated it, when an influx of testers caused a massive upsurge in troll posts and spamming, and thus SE introduced similar posting restrictions there, and then probably decided to change the official FFXIV forum to a similar system in order to head off any possibility of a repeat. Basically the old meme, "this is why we can't have nice things."

I'm not actually sure how the Duty Finder functions but I can only assume that things like viewing a cutscene must interfere with the process, meaning you cant do quests or have your chocobo companion out while waiting for a Duty.

I seriously want that last part. There are some scenes you just can't replay at the inn and I don't want to miss them. :\ But I don't queue for stuff while doing anything requiring a cutscene anyways.

Pressing esc does NOT refuse the duty. It closes the duty finder window, and the window gets "minimized" into your notifications (the little rounded rectangles where loot notices show up). You can then click it like you would a party or friend request to pop it open and accept. Pressing esc is the same as pressing wait in the window.

There is no apostrophe in Au Ra.
Stop adding one three years later.

The duty finder window never goes away unless it times out or you manually press "withdraw", it just goes and sits in the corner of the screen.

If it's an end-of-quest completion scene you can usually just mash Escape, skip the cutscene and then decline the quest reward - that way it's not actually turned in and you can re-watch it when you go to turn it in again. No good for scenes at the beginning or middle of quests, unfortunately.

Apparently, SE is looking into ways to fix this problem, but they haven't (so far as I've seen) revealed yet quite how they plan on doing so. Here's what they have said:

Hang tight a bit longer and if we should receive more information, we'll be sure to pass it along.
