Well got a fresh paliden to 50, how should i tank 50 stuff

A couple things I'm concerned about. My pally is i48, I know some people at that point are gona be like 40-50 levels higher than me with their ilvl's. So how do i hold hate against these people till I can get geared up?

I would like to progress naturally through end game if possible.

Also some people will ask me to speed run, so how do you effectively do that as a paladin?

I already had someone want me to speed it up in that level 47 dungeon DD, that didn't go so well

I think the best thing you can do at this point is get the soldiery/poetics sword seeing as weapon damage contributes a lot when tanking and holding aggro. Starting boss pulls with fight or flight can help with the starting aggro and for big pulls I like to try and open with flight or flight again circle of scorn then flash a few times then just do my single target rotation getting in a flash every now and then .Another thing to remember is, is that your the tank, tanks basically set the speed of the run. You can get as fast as you want or as slow and if they have a problem with it tell them that they can go your speed or wait another 10-15mins waiting for another tank.

Can't really speak for DD sr but generally for PLD it's pull all the mobs you can take, use defensive cooldowns and spam flash to hold aggro using combo'd riot blade as needed. for gearing just do dungeons for poetics/soldiery gear. or you can do crystal tower for decent pieces.

I'min a similar position myself. Just remember that as the tank you're in a position to dictate the speed of a run, and you don't need to pull more mobs than you'e comfortable with - let people know up front it's your first time tanking a particular place, although it'll probably be obvious from you having less HP than the DPS, and take it easy. Taking five extra minutes to clear a dungeon at a comfortable place is much better than over-pulling and wiping repeatedly.

If this is your first 50, just start progressing through all the level 50 dungeons in order - you'll need to do them all to unlock High Level Roulette anyway, and the first-time bonus on soldiery adds up quick. In the meantime, do Main Scenario Roulette every day (120 soldiery per, plus more if there's a first-timer there), and start running the Crystal Tower raids as soon as you can - Labyrinth has pretty low required ilvl and is fairly easy now, and is a great source of soldiery and left-side gear. Once you get into Syrcus Tower you can start getting tomestones (for soldiery weapons) and the items to upgrade soldiery gear to 110, and then once you hit 90 ilvl you can start doing World of Darkness.

Also, once you've done all three CT raids, it unlocks a weekly quest which rewards either a tomestone for buying Poetics weapons, or an item for upgrading Poetics armour or accessories. Unless you plan on completing the relic weapon quest all the way to Zeta, an upgraded poetics weapon and shield is about the best thing you're likely to get any time soon, and you can comfortably get them after 3 weeks of capping out your poetics (costs 1300 for weapon + shield, and you're limited to earning 450 per week).

When playing with overgeared players, you'll want to secure hate on all mobs quickly, as once a mob starts rubber banding between you and a DD things will start to get messy and spiral out of control. I like to put down a couple flashes, then fight or flight / bloodbath to increase hate generation, pop Circle of Scorn and begin combo'ing Rage of Halone, weaving in Spirits Within between a GCD. If someone is leagues above you, you'll need to be vigilant about what they're doing, and if they're going ham, they may pull off you regardless. Marking targets may help in this respect, a DD has less reason to fault you for ripping hate on a lower priority target when they are clearly marked. It helps to pipe up sometimes, and let people know you're having difficulty generating sufficient enmity. If they decide not to hold back, they shouldn't be surprised to end up tanking a mob.

As far as speed runs are concerned, when pulling your train, you should strive to tag every mob with an attack as you pass by, but without pausing and letting mobs catch up to you. This often results in shield lobbing targets while they're running behind you, which is kind of tricky to learn, but ensures that your healer won't rip hate from several mobs with their first heal. When you decide to end your pull, get the mobs as close together as you can and start using cooldowns and flash. The most damage will be right at the beginning, when all the mobs are still alive, so leading with a powerful cooldown like sentinel or hallowed ground will buy you and your healer some extra time. If you have secured a lead on hate, you can use riot blade on the lowest hp target to start regaining mp.

During speed runs it's important to hold hate, if a black mage double flares and pulls every mob off of you, they'll quickly die and you'll end up losing much of your aoe dps, making the pull drag on too long for the healer, resulting in a wipe. If you aren't sure it can be done, you can always discuss it with your party. A few seconds of communication takes less time than a wipe. It's also important to dodge aoe attacks, the healer has enough to worry about without the spike damage, and taking a conal to the face can easily turn a clean run sour, especially at lower ilvls. Be sure to face these aoes away from your party as well.

Be sure to have fun with how you're playing, and don't be afraid to ask your group what you could have done better if things go south. Sure, there are ragers, but there are also plenty of players that are responsive towards a less experienced player that is trying to learn. Good luck!

Don't speedrun @ low gear level, it's not good for your health or your sanity.

One pack at a time until you're i90+, then 2 packs at a time should be fine.

Flash as many times as needed, don't be afraid to over-Flash if it means you won't lose aggro. Otherwise, either FB -> RB to regen MP (less enmity) or FB -> SB -> RoH (enmity combo). Make sure you rotate your combo between mobs to keep hate on everything, especially things that melee are hitting primarily.

Keep Circle of Scorn on CD, AOE or otherwise (but especially in AOE situations). Same with Spirits Within, but that's just a high damage single target skill.

As others have suggested, spam the hell out of CT and get your gear level up. Gear level with tank >>>> gear level with any other class.

    Good luck!

    1 > 2 > 3
    1 > 2 > 3

    Pop One CD

Spam Flash + Circle of Scorn

AFK and come back to things dead.
