Minfilia's Dagger

In the quest "Life, Materia and Everything" Minfilia tasks us to go to Mutamix so that he can meld materia to her dagger.

I'm thinking...what if its the same dagger that was gifted to her pre-calamity? In the Tales of the Calamity her dagger was given to her by Louisoix himself. Link:http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/anniv...?rgn=na&lng=en

So it has at least be mention twice. And we also know that Louisoix don't give gifts for no reason, let alone a weapon (weird gift to give a noncombatant), unless it's important in the grand scheme of things. She is an Echo user that can communicate with Hydaelyn, afterall.

It's really such a small thing that can easily be overlooked, but what if it'll play a bigger role in the future? (think chekov's gun) Prior to the these letters we knew that Tupsimati was special, but nowhere near as special as it turned out.

Minifilia's Dagger description

This plain dagger has absolutely no defining characteristics except that the hilt does smell quite nice.

Never played 1.0, so correct me on this. But from what I heard Lolorito had a special dagger that can revive the dead, but was stolen by F'llamin and co. In that skirmish it broke...never to be seen again.

Perhaps it was recovered by somebody (F'llamin, Thancred, etc?) and retrofitted/ disguised as a plain dagger and eventually given to Minfilia. Of course, just like they didn't know Tupsimati was special, the Scions and co probably won't know either until the right time comes.

.....Or it's just a plain dagger that was enhanced with grade 1 water materia.

It's possible, but I do believe that the dagger on her right hip is supposed to be the one Louisoix gave her, and it remains on her hip throughout Life, Materia, and Everything (not that that proves anything, lol).

That dagger's name is Heartstrike, and it has a very particular look to it. If I recall correctly, Heartstrike was returned to Lolorito after Niellefresne was killed holding it. In Version 1, there were a few quests that revolved around making copies of it to deter thievery and hints that Lolorito wanted the dagger restored.

The only real hint I can discern is that neither Heartstrike nor the quest dagger seem to be made of mythril.

"Obtained" by Niellefresne to unearth the danger Ul'dah faced from the deceased Warbuton. The dagger was never "broken", it just lost the jewel which fueled its magicks.

The Heartstrike is just a regular Bronze Spatha with a jewel in it. You can see it more clearly here.

Ah, so the blade itself isn't special, but the jewels on the hilt? Interesting. The description does say that the only thing interesting about her dagger is that the hilt smells good. Now its been further enhanced by materia.

With Llamin back, Lolorito in power and Minfilia being herself, surely this plot point from 1.0 will be addressed in 3.0

maybe minfilia is in captivity in uldah and we are going to rescue her and steal loloritos dagger to resurrect the scions!
