The common misconception people easily make about DF is that you'll magically get people with your own play style, or if not, the others are wrong. However this game has many different styles to play, most of them as valid as others. While 'to the bitter end' is a valid game style, so is 'no hopeless attempt'. DF is generalizer and while you might luck out with having majority of your preference, that's not always the case. I have got annoyed when I get on low level group who want full clear if I just want to pass. The same day on another class I was leveling I got a quick run group. But while that annoyed me, I was not blaming the other players for it as random is what you get in DF. If you want the whole group to be of similar preference in style instead of yielding to majority of what you get in DF, use party finder instead. PF even lists "to the very end" (not exact wording) as one of the search conditions.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.

As a measure of fairness and to promote a more civil way to resolute a stalled/unwinnable situation, Vote Abandon has its merits.
IMHO, it can even go hand in hand with "let's reform the party / agree to meet again later via Party Finder once we've worked out the problems", especially with people from the same server.

However, it should always be properly motivated and backed by factual reasons - such as being unable to rack up enough damage or needing time to perfect a mechanic, the majority of the party getting too tired to focus, and so on. Just as it isn't meant as a tool to "punish" people who are underperforming, it shouldn't be used as a handy substitute of vote kicking or an instrument to harass other players.

For this reason, I could understand introducing a few tweaks. Being unanimous is obviously out of question, as someone else has noted in reference to raids, but making sure the system cannot be gamed by people who only want to get carried past a certain point/reward makes sense. I'd like to hear what Fern or some of the devs think of it.

Edit: and just as Sida pointed out beforehand, Duty Finder doesn't automagically solves everything for you. If you find yourself stuck, agreeing to move on might be the -actual- good choice for your party.
