    Fate of the Musketeer's Guild in Limsa Lominsa

    The job quests for each of these three new jobs will be located in Ishgard.
    With this being true now, the musketeer's guild in Limsa is useless. I am surprised the guild wasn't willing to train adventurers in the way of the pistol and musket. Especially seeing all of the muskets racked up in the guild and inside the Maelstrom headquarters. Then, there is also the Lominsan guards, captains and pirates that all carry guns.

    I am happy for Machinist being included in Heavensward but rather disappointed at the musketeer's guild serving as simply a decoration for all of these years.

    Most Legacy plays have been wishing for Musketeer since we got that taste of holding the gun during the Limsa story. We wanted the pirate pistols that we were taunted with. Sadly, SE didn't decide to give us Musketeer but Machinist, which has so far looked to be a hybrid of ARC and ACN, a physical ranged pet class. I heard 'musketeer', thought it'd be nice to have a ranged physical class... and then they share more than the name and a solo character pic and it has a pet. Really? Enough people are complaining about the 'butchering' of SMN, and SE has said DRG will never get a XI-style pet because then they'd have to nerf DRG's base attack. SE should've just given us Musketeer like we've been taunted with since the game came out... no pet, no gimmick. Just shoot the enemy with a gun.

    Agreed! Many people complain about Bards not using their songs to support and many Bards complain that they don't want to use their support abilities and simply do damage. Musketeer would've solved that issue between players (assuming it would've been pure range dps).

    ....Now we have machinist which combines things that people don't want for a range dps: Pets and Support.

    Who know's what the future will hold, but I don't think we'll have a musketeer (pure range dps) for a while. Having another gin-based job will be a bit too redundent

    I still think the new Jobs have been specifically designed to actually fall back onto classes as a last resort in case the 'stand alone/no class required' aspect doesn't actually work properly, with MSK being the obvious choice for MCH to use as a hypothetical base class.

    Either way, Coral Tower still has the MSK class logo in full view of players - it's clear it will one day be added. It's more a case of when will it be introduced.

    It'd be really neat if they added a dual gun class for Musketeer, since their guns are smaller already. Maybe an expansion in the future will introduce an additional class/job to each city state, such as an expansion that doesn't introduce a new one.

    If you go to the mrd guild downstair you will see 2 miqote i belive training with the musket. I belive either mrd could branch out to a musketeer job or we could get mrd skills that use a musket.

    Machinest does look to have strong support elements but it doesn't sound much like a pet class at all. Turrets yes but they work very different in gameplay. The attachments gameplay as well seems to offer some interesting differences Machinest will have with BRD.

    My guess on why they didn't go with Musketeer would be for several reasons. Thematically they might not have felt it worked in the expansion. They may have struggled to find a way to make Musketeer compelling to play without it feeling too much like BRD without songs. It might have been balance issues. After all pure dps gameplay tends to revolve around good positioning, timing and rotation. It's very easy for a class that only offers pure dps to either be too strong or too weak particularly when its competing with melee dps classes.

    I think people are judging Machinest a bit early since none of us have actually had a chance to play it yet.

    While I think that Musketeer class > Machinist job would've been a very natural thing to do if they'd have stuck with base classes, I also can't really see a pistols-only job being very fun or different from other ranged jobs. Machinist fixes that with its gun attachments and the robot pet, and I think it'll be a very rewarding job. I don't have a ranged yet, so I'm rolling machinist as soon as I clear the 3.0 story.

    With how many changes the world went through from 1.0 to ARR, I really doubt they would've left the Musketeer guild in the game if they were never going to eventually use it for something.

    I'm almost convinced we'll see a "Pirate" Job Class at some point that derives from Musketeer and either Marauder or Gladiator. We're bound to cross the western ocean at some point so that means going to Limsa (Since Dravania and "Ghost Sharlyon" are probably not going to have active ports).

    It would almost make sense to use the ocean route to go to Sharleyon Proper at some point as well. Ships can hold more people and more supplies in one trip than air ships after all.
