We'll never meet again. My heart broke a bit when they showed the western highlands as completely frozen. Dravanian hinterlands here I come.

So much this please! I miss the 1.0 Coerthas theme so badly. The music, the scenery, the wolves howls... I often just went to Coerthas to wander around, finding a nice vista and just chilling there. I still REALLY miss that place + music and I was saddened to see it change to what it is now. Mind you, the current coerthas them is quite good as well but I still prefer the old one. I still have the music on my playlist and I can still hear the sound of the wind and the wolves while listening to it...

I don't think Soken's stuff is terrible but let's face it the length of La Noscea themes are a jingle compared to the epic sweeping "On Windy Meadows" I would really love it if this was brought back because it gave the game such poetic character that the current one frankly lacks.

So, I love On Windy Meadows and I think it's more fitting than the current theme.

But.

No matter how good a song is, if it's BGM you hear every day it just becomes noise regardless.

Prime example is the Limsa theme:

Great song, very fitting for Limsa, but you wouldn't even know it at this point because you've heard it 5,000 times.

The new theme for Limsa doesn't even come close. How Soken could have missed the sound of the hammers at Naldiq & Vymelli's ringing throughout the city is beyond me. The Distant Worlds version gives me goosebumps every time. Sure, maybe it does become just background noise after a while, but a better song as background noise is still nicer to have.

I always thought that the field music like "On Windy Meadows" and Twilight Over Thanalan" would be perfect for the night time field music, especially Twilight Over Thanalan.

It's the main battle theme for La Noscea region. Also FYI, back in 1.0, each region has their own battle BGM, including Coerthas & Mor Dhona too. At least Mor Dhona battle BGM were already re-used for one of dungeon boss battle, Halatali HM for example.
