Field Leves - Failure Rate

OK, I've given this a fair try, and now my botanist is r46, and just now I did leve Reading the Rings, which means I've been doing this leve for 9 ranks now. My damage or failure to harvest rate was 33%, and if I was to calculate my success rate on strictly mahogony logs it would be severely lower. It's hard enough at this rank to level up @ 130 SP per successful harvest without the additional impedence of some bullsh*t or dummied up failure rate. Will you please fix this ><

I dunno what to tell you man. I started doing these leves a few weeks ago and at r36 I have no problem successfully logging anything as long as it isn't a mahogany log. If your gear is up to date try eating some + Gathering food like Tomato pie and see if it helps. Also I believe having more STR lowers the rate at which the remainder drops.

This is mahogony logs, bro. After 11 ranks I would expect the damage rate to be lower, but it isn't. I was also told @ mid 40's this problem will become less of an issue. I don't have this problem grinding, and I don't have this problem with gold when I'm mining.

Oh my bad, I thought you meant logging up everything. It makes sense now though =P

Try the food if you haven't though. It seems to afford at least 1 more hit most of the time.

you should get 3 swings on mahogany logs now, no? If not you need to update your gear, if yes then you need to learn where to chop. If you have high enough strength the location of items are in a fixed position so you know that mahogany is in the first half of the chop dialog, since at 46 you should be able to dig up mahogany with either 1 or 2 strikes this shouldn't prove a problem. This isn't a problem with the game its a problem with the way you are gathering. Hope that helps you.

I'll try adding some str. Incidently, there is nothing shabby about my gear, although my hatchet is NQ.

there is a certain amount of str needed for each item to make it be in roughly the same place on the strike gauge, so hopefully that will help
