    Except it isn't broken, the system works just fine. If it were truly broken then you would have far more people failing at simple "don't stand in me" mechanics. Busier fights like Titan and Midgardsormr would be next to impossible. As it stands, most people are only getting hit because they lack spacial awareness and decent reflexes. The telegraph shows you were not to stand, the castbar shows you how long you have to get out of the way. It's not complicated. Players who can't comprehend that would probably still fail even if the animation and castbar lined up better simply because they aren't paying attention to obvious cues.

    The only real excuse for getting hit is latency and that's not something "tightening" the combat would address.

    It has improved a tonne since the game was released. If you are still getting hit, then investigate a proxy service as your latency issues are something on your side.
    I sub to a proxy/tunnel service (without it I can't dodge a thing) due to a poor route that my net takes to the servers. Without I get 450ms+. With it I get 250ms roughly, and that is plenty good enough to play this game.

    The net coding for this game does show just how horrible the routing infrastructure is for North America in general. Hell, the US isn't even ranked in the top 10 ISP providers. Which is what happens when corporate greed is allowed to reign unchecked for so long (but that is an argument for another time & place). So it's a mix of SE, ISP & network routing. And you could be just that unlucky soul where your ISP won't do jack shit & vpns don't help either.

    The OP knows that's how it all works. You aren't telling him anything he doesn't already know.

    He's saying the way it works is flawed and is showing why.

    Look at the cast bar to tell you when you're out of time. Not when the aoe disappears.
    Unfortunately, you kinda need indicators to let you know where to run or where NOT to run. And if those are appearing late for whatever reason...

    It is astounding how deluded in their blind defense of the game many people on this forum are.

    The castbar/on-screen visual discrepancy OP brings up is an objective and indisputable flaw with the game. No one in their right mind would defend a game for having the on-screen visuals provide completely wrong information about what is going on.

    In a non-MMO game, this would immediately lead to the game being deemed unplayable by most players. Of course due to the nature of online gaming some lag-related issues are to be expected, but when the cast bar DOES show the correct timing of the events and the visuals do NOT, that is plain inexcusable from a game design perspective.
