DPS who are overgeared can usually tank all those lower end dungeons without any problem anyway. If I roll into a dungeon with an undergeared tank I usually just tell them not to sweat it if they lose hate. It's not like they are hard dungeons in current gear.

Also remind the complainers that prae and WP were being speed ran with full ilvl 60-70 groups when they were first released and they have been nerfed since then. If they think a lesser geared tank is a huge issue they are likely just bads.

I've had nothing but good experiences as a fresh pld which was my first class. My biggest pieces of advice for you would be this.
    1. As a tank I don't go into a new place without at least watching a video on it or reading a guide. The one exception being if I'm with a majority FC run and someone is explaining as we go.
    2. Let the group know you are new if it's a 8 or 24 man and you would prefer to OT. They will likely already have figured it out, but it can't hurt to give them a heads up if there is more than one new person or someone just didn't see the notification.

    3. Run low-level and main scenario (you really don't need an OT in these anymore so as long as you don't get someone as fresh as you, you are good) roulette for sol tomes. I've only done main a few times b/c I was worried about being the better geared tank without any experience, but never ran into that problem. The few times I did do it the group and other tank was very supportive and urged me to tank some of the bosses knowing I wouldn't be able to hold enmity 100% just so I got the feel for them. Also just running low-level over and over gives you more of a handle on working in groups good and bad. If you can learn to hold hate again 130 synced down players with only 2-3 skills you can probably do it higher up.
    4. Join a hunt LS for sol tomes and allied seals. I was able to go from ilvl 70 to 100 in 2 days of moderate hunting just from going on hunts. Sometimes when spawns are on a role you can buy one piece of gear after maybe an hour of hunting.

Atoxs, you can bypass the silly character limit by editing your first post to add to it. Dumb restriction on Square's part. c:

Threads like this do make me wonder why some people get angry at new players going through old content like the main scenario roulette's dungeons. The roulette system was explicitly made to encourage experienced players to go back through this content with new players who just happen to need it. Anyone who gets angry at seeing new players in their roulette is just plain laughable.

I'm sorry you ran into that. :c

Honestly, as a DPS or healer I never mind getting a new-ish tank as long as they know their limits. Pulling one group at a time is fine - the healer can DPS too. If you're comfortable doing more, awesome. I don't see why people get so bent out of shape and want to kick a new player. All it takes is an extra five minutes of your time - five minutes you get rewarded for if the player is new to the instance - and you probably make someone's day in the process. I dunno, as long as the new person doesn't get hurt over advice or constructive criticism (Don't tell me how to play my class!!!! - we've all run into those and they deserve no mercy) I'd rather take the time to help them out.

Then again, I kinda have a soft spot for new tanks. They get me right in the feels. :3

I went through this problem in CM a few times when me and another tank were low on ilvl and health. I called them tunnel vision. Because their minds are only focus on the goals and forgot what it was or how it feels to start from the bottom. Honestly it's kind of good you had to go through this experience. Why? Now you know how to treat players especially the more challenging roles like healers or tanks. Use this as a reason why you should treat people how you want to be treated and share tips and advice as you wanted it back then.

Many do this, and my bet is this is the true reason of tank shortage in Duty finder.
I myself only do duty finder with guildmates. the only random duty I do is the daily lowlevel to push my BLM to 26. (I got a hunch I might need it when DRK comes out )
