Hitting level 50.. ouch!

So I've recently hit level 50 for the first time. Leveling was absolutely a joy, people were friendly and I had a lot of fun tanking dungeons.

Then I got to level 50. I am trying to gear up through the guide on reddit. I had to complete the praetorium and wanderer's palace, and all I'm getting is "No hp, noob, let's kick, get some better gear" etc. People just aren't very friendly because all they can think of is racing through their daily content. What a horrible experience, elitist jerks

Sorry for the rant, was a great outlet lol. Won't stop tanking, but I will most likely only do it with my FC from now on

Yeah, the community can be pretty crappy. But there are nice people too, luckily. Most of the time you'll run into people who're neither mean nor nice, just not too talkative, those are fine, too.

Rather than restricting yourself to FC-only runs, how about bringing a friend? As a tank you get fast queues, and a DPS player will appreciate that - and as soon as you're 2 people in a 4 player instance, you, in theory, have the option to kick whoever is causing trouble, as long as you kick them first. It's not a fine thing to do, but if you come across someone who's really asking for it, it's a better option than taking their abuse, or being kicked by them. Just make sure not to become an abusive jerk yourself - there's plenty tanks of that caliber out there already.

Geez... yeah, it's kinda common for it to happen now, when you're just hitting lvl50 with your first job. People are just too used swimming in memoquartz and can't understand that you'll need a bit of time to trade for a "proper" gear.

I was accompanying a friend to help him do his first lvl50 dungeons lately and people were always complaining about his HPs and ilvl50-70...

Don't let it get to you. It is a laughable behaviour, so you should just laugh it off.

Want to help solve this? Report the offender. I'm serious. I report ppl all the time for being rude or harassing. You know what? The GM always contacts me after my report and pursues the issue. They can and will check chatlogs for the instance you were in and will deal with the offender.

I'm not saying report them in the forums either (that can be temp ban on you for player shaming), use the ingame support option to report harassment. Works like a charm.

Don't waste time replying to jerks and elitists, let them spew their obscenities and rage and be nasty, then report them and kick em where it hurts. Most times the offender will get a temp ban and hopefully learn their lesson.

Ya, sadly those *story* dungeons became a speed run gimmick for quick tomes (not sure why people even still farm it). The best thing I can recommend is to set up FC runs like you said or put up a Party Finder for "Dungeon Runs & Gearing Up" and then you can tailor your message to find like minded people or others who need to gear up as well.

Keep it up though, there are those of us who are willing to help and not insta kick fresh 50's lol. Also, follow AreeyaJaidee's advice and report the offender if they are sincerely harassing you or others.

Let them kick you if they're going to be dicks, they can have fun sitting around waiting for the in progress queue to pop, and you can instantly get into a fresh run with some less impatient people.

Also, start doing the Crystal Tower raids as soon as possible, they're very forgiving even for people who barely meet the item level requirement, and are a great way to get geared fast.

Yeah... in total agreement. You should report them for harassment. All other arguments about Castrum and Prae aside, you should not under any circumstances do this to a fresh-50, all of us had to go through that phase.

Nobody sprung into game fully leveled with their BiS on.

This... Very much this.... As a tank(in your case you'll be an offtank) in the crystal towers you'll have it really easy... Unless you are maintanking, your Ilvl doesn't really matter(up to the last part Wod at least) and you can spam the raids for easy soldiery tomes and geardrops... Once you reach 80-90ish Ilvl you wont receive alot of hate for your gear, at least in my experience.. You will also have high enough gear to cope with ilvl 115-120+ dps jobs(for the most part anyway). At ilvl90+ you can pretty much do whatever you want outside of coil and some extreme primal fights, so just keep at it, you'll get there...

In my experience I have foundnd there are more friendly players than rude ones, and a lot of the time rude one's get kicked over low geared or new players. So don't let this get you down. (:

But, of course, I've had experiences with groups of rude players. Its not fun, and I usually just leave instead of dealing with it.

I, as a healer, don't mind low geared tanks if they are doing their job well and not over pulling. I usually only have a problem with them if they pull to much, if they focus more on DPS < Surviving or the DPS are taking too much damage and I have to heal them too (though as a SCH it usually isn't that big of a deal).

Thank you for your tips and encouraging words. I decided to try the roulette in order to get tomes and entered Castrum Meridianum. I told them I was new, had no gear and no idea how to do the dungeon. They were actually really nice and taught me how to pull etc. Very good experience ^^
