Free Demo Upgrade Question

Hi!

I have a friend who is currently playing Final Fantasy XIV using the the free 2 week demo. I'd like to buy her a copy of the game for PS4 and am wondering if anyone knows if the demo trial can simply be upgraded by sending her a code from the game box for the physical copy for PS4. Also would her progress be maintained or would she have to start all over again?

Any info relative to this would be appreciated.

Once they buy the full version, they need to make sure they sign in and attach the full version of the game to the same account AND service account they played the trial on.
