What would you think if a reaper style dps class was introduced in the future?

I've seen posts in healer and tank about what jobs they'd like and it got me thinking of what would be cool for dps. I was thinking it'd be cool if we had a reaper job that used either a 2 handed scythe or 2 one handed scythes. I know some other games have had a class like this and they seem cool to me.

What would your thoughts be on that or what kind of dps job would you like to see?

Been playing Type-0 and I love Sice, easily my favorite character in the lineup. I'd be totally down for a scythe job. I would think two one-handed scythes is definitely too "xxtreme kool letterz" for me, but a two-handed one would be pretty awesome.

Sice's main mechanic is that she powers up as she kills enemies, which wouldn't be feasible in XIV, but it could be a momentum job like Monk, where doing damage directly increases your damage output, up to a certain level.

That's a good idea! They could also have a conal or aoe attack as part of their rotation. Be more of a group dps rather than just strictly 1 at a time maybe.

It would be cool, but probably unlikely. As far as I know, the only games in which scythes weren't just renamed maces and axes type weapons is FFXI, where it was a Black Knight weapon, and Type-0, which wasn't typical. So they'll need something new.

I'm not sure if that will fly just yet.

It'd be cool to see a different take to a Necromancer class, being a Melee Magical class.

Necromancer would be cool to see their interpretation of. I like how they did it in the Guild Wars games.

Wonder what job would use a whip or whip sword. That'd be a cool option for a hybrid melee/ranged dps.

I absolutely hate the idea of a scythe job, but I would like to see what they'd do with Necromancer. If memory serves, they've only done necromancer as a playable job once in the entire FF series, and that was the GBA version of 5. They used rods and knives, had a native "undead" status, and basically played like a blue mage that drew their spells exclusively from undead and demons and other "dark" creatures. Seem to recall they could also summon a demon.

Content too hard? Too much rng? Too much effort for the item you want?

Looks like I'll have to dust off 5 then and check that out. Never knew there was a necro in there. Thanks for sharing Zophar.
