Post Any plans to attach Skill Bar set up to Gear Sets?

The reason why I ask is for different builds.

One of the main reasons i don't play much PvP is because i hate having to manually reorganize all of my abilities and make room for the exclusively PvP skills and abilities.

It occured to me a while ago that if a player had the option to attach skill slot layout to their gear set, rather than the entire job, they could more easilly manage this.

For example, Having a Gear set named "MNK" and one named "MNK PvE". If this were a reality, a player would not only be able to assign gear to the different sets but also have all their Pve Skills in a certain order for "MNK" and have their PvP Skills in another order for "MNK PvP".

This would require some elbow grease to work out in the back end of the system, but i think it would be an amazing advancement.

I know i'm not the only one who doesn't do PvP mostly for this reason, either.

I'd like this too. It would make tanking easier, Main Tank versus Off Tank skill configurations.

I made some macros (BLM PvP macro, WHM PvP macro, WAR PvP macro, ...) to assign the pvp skills to my 3rd cross hot bar (PS4 player here)

My 3rd hot bar is the shared one, with teleport/return/sprint/mounts and all that stuff.

I have another macro to assign back the non-pvp stuff.

    It really helps.

What this would also allow is to tie the DF entrance to a gearset, which in turn allows Commence to take care of the job switching.

    1. Join DF queue as Gearset #x
    2. Switch into Gearset #y and do whatever
    3. Queue pops
    4. You are in combat, but you click on Commence
    5. You continue to fight, someone cancels, you just keep on fighting
    6. Queue pops again
    7. You click on Commence and still fight on
    8. Everyone Commenced so you disappear mid-fight and show up in the instance with Gearset #x, full resources, all cooldowns available

Yes, as previous poster said, there is possibility to make macro assign certain skill to certain skill slot, or switch the hot bar in the main hot bar (not sure if this is pc only thing) etc. Since it is also possible to change your gearset by macro, it is indeed possible to make a micro that, apart from switching the gearset, also sets up the hot bars. In macro interface, look to the textcommand list for documentation, you're looking for /hotbar or /crosshotbar commands, as well as /gearset.

As someone who's macro list is flooding with various items spanning all the battle classes and crafting classes (I have nearly 40 crafting macros alone), building macros to swap out abilities is not really something I want to do, let alone will likely be able to once the new jobs are added in 3.0.
And I (we) shouldn't have to.

(see next post - 1000 character limit is hilariously awful)

    For example, my BLM hotbars:

(abilities set up in a grid pattern as I use a Naga)

I have limited real estate remaining here, and this doesn't even include my PvP abilities.
The addition of skills in 3.0 is likely going to exacerbate the issue.
Granted, some will make older abilities obsolete, but this will also cause issues in potentially level capped content, where you've removed older/lesser skills from your hotbars in place of the new ones, but now that you've joined capped content, you cannot use said abilities, and need to swap things out on the fly.
Having the ability to create gearsets/skillsets tailored for capped content/PvP/etc. would make things exceptionally better.
