I'm technically part of the younger generation, but I was raised by the older generation, so I can absolutely see what you were trying to do.

Kids these days are so unnecessarily defensive.

Embarrassment can make people act in funny ways. Kind of like Gralna's story above - she was doing something to be helpful, but her sister may have embarrassed by them 1) reading their work and 2) correcting all the mistake and so they reacted in a defensive manner instead of just saying thanks. Not saying it's right, but it's not a completely unexpected reaction.

It's like the people you see on the road sometimes, the ones that will lay on their horn and flip you off after you gave them a quick warning honk. Oh sure, you were about to slide right into my car, but I'm the jerkface for being in the lane and letting you know.
