Can we play DRK before 50?

So I have heard rumors that we aren't going to be able to play the new jobs till we hit 50. Is that true? Because I really don't like any of the jobs right now enough to level them past 35 just wondering cause drk looks awesome. Can anyone give me official word if its true?

Well according to people, the Job guild will be in Ishgard. You can't get into Ishgard unless you got through 2.55 Main Quest. You can't do 2.55 Main quest unless you already have a lv50. Therefore, through speculation. you need 1 class to be lv50

It was stated at one point in an interview that you would need to complete 2.55 in order to gain access to Ishgard, where the new jobs are acquired. That means you would need to be level 50. Whether or not it actually happens that way once Heavensward launches is a different story. Things could change.

As far as current jobs go, some of them don't really shine until later levels and really don't show their true potential until 50. Black Mage and Arcanist in particular I found to be incredibly boring at lower levels, but love them at 50. You have much more to manage and the gameplay becomes more rich. If I had quit them at level 30, I would have missed out on jobs that I now enjoy.

So, I would just suggest not making a final judgment on current jobs until you experience their full capability.

If you're planning on playing DRK, I'd be absolutely amazed if they don't use cross-class skills from Gladiator and/or Marauder, so you may as well do yourself a favour and level one or both of them up now.

What he said, don't forget in this game DRK will be a tank. Best get used to it now before you try to level one from 30 on to 60.

Also clearing Main Story will require item level of 90+ to at least queue for the last trial. So yeah...

One more thing. Looks awesome doesn't mean it will feel good to play it. All current tanks in Demon set will look pretty awesome too. NIN will look awesome in Magitec set. All other jobs I bet can also look pretty awesome with right gear / glamours. But actually enjoying the class / job is ain't really about how it looks. Unless you will just STARE AT IT XD

Yes, you'll need a 50 to get into Ishgard and get the Soul of the Dark Knight (or however that'll work). That said, you'll want GLA at 22, MRD at 8 (26 if you want Mercy Stroke) and PUG at 12 for all relevant cross class skills, without some of which you'll struggle to properly tank most late-game content.

As others have said, it currently seems as though you'll not only have to have at least 1 class at 50, but you'll need to clear all of the main scenario (of which there's quite a lot past 50). GLA up to at least 22 seems like it will be mandatory to actually use DRK in any situation where there's more than 1 tank since provoke is always needed for tank swapping (unless DRK gets their own version of it).

As others have said, many/most of the classes/jobs seem boring at early levels because you have so few skills and everything is much simpler. By 50 without a lot of experience playing (which should happen through leveling) it would be difficult to manage all of the skills that you'll have.

Ditto on the gear, I would expect everything before AF, and much of the stuff at 50 would be shared by DRK and MRD/GLA.
