You were just like level 15 and you had no gear pretty much and had to go farm fates with no sub job etc. The magitech mount, you had to finish the story. This one, a gardening mount, would be just a side quest though, just like the relic/zeta quest. The reason I went with the gardening motif is because, yes I know most of the land plots are full, so not everyone has a house, but most FC's do, so hence, it's a group effort (like the new airship building for fcs in expansion). I didn't mean for it to be too complicated though, just growing a new kind of plant, then turning it into a NPC or something to get the mount...etc But it's a very rare seed. If someone has done gardening, they know cross breeding those onions is time consuming (and well so is the relic farming). I just think it should be involved, but not nessisarily a "difficult" thing to do... That fits in right? It's not like you have to arm wrestle rafflesia to get one (you'd lose, you see those tendrils? too stronk).

I find this idea very possible, honestly. Like just a specific gardening item that would be required in a whole quest. This could be a great general idea for a gardening-related mount to happen, not necessarily Rafflesia if they don't wanna use that. Maybe the item could be useful for other things, too, so it's not straight-up a tradable to-be-mount? SE is keeping a violent effort in making mounts only obtainable by someone's effort/real money.

I don't really think this should be something you grow in a pot in your personal room though... What if it escaped and ate you while you were sleeping, before you finished taming it? :O

I'm quite sure most FC would be fine with stopping growing stuff in one of their garden boxes for just a few days to grow this special seed. Maybe have a farming drive for airship money for expac to have people try to "win" it...etc

I know SE likes to sell special mounts in mogstation, but they seem cool with having them be quest rewards and things you can farm for (remember the tank lion and bear?).

Also, the main driving idea behind this was based on something SE already did. When the 4 star crafts came out, they made them require drops from first coil. Maybe you have to farm 2nd and 3 coil to get the plant clipping(or some other item) to grow this plant mount? That would be a positive thing these last two months for people that want to finish the coil story but don't really feel confident to raid. If people are farming coil for things other than the armor/weapons, they are a little less picky who they take.

Right, by effort I mean farming and whatever else in-game you gotta do that's not gil to another player. The issue with making that item ONLY for that mount quest would kind of make it a tradable mount, even if it requires more work afterwards. So maybe an item that makes other stuff too (turn into furniture or something) would make it more reasonable in SE's eyes.

Ya I agree, I wouldn't want something like this to be exploited to be a "for money" item that you could just sell for gil to players.

SE is good at figuring this kind of thing out. I mean, like the relic quest for instance, you had to do quests to get the alexandrite right? You did probably have to buy the materia, but once you get your zeta relic, it's yours and you can't trade it.


That's why that perhaps the item should be locked to a player somehow that actually grew it. Maybe you guys can think up a way. I'd say go with that personal flowerpot in your personal room idea (that way the item could be untradeable once it finished growing and you just claim it), but I think that is less likely to happen anytime soon. It would require a ton of coding. Surely there is some way to grow it in the outside garden and have it lock itself to a player without letting them sell it (in such a way that the FC could choose what member got it). I'll give it more thought I guess. But I know you guys are smart, maybe you'll think of something first if you like this idea.

While I'm kinda against a mount that'd be limited to such a tiny sub-set of the player base . . . that is also a really cool idea?

Personally, would prefer the Malboro mount. With "Sprout" Breath that plants sprouts on players heads... think Pikmin or the Blue Mage Job emote from FFXI.
