Wow. I guess the fact that I don't want to waste 30+ minutes of my time on content I've cleared, wiping, because people can't get their selves together. Sorry if wanting to not die makes me a "coiler" in your own words. Way to be extremely prejudiced and insulting. Guess I have to waste my entire day on someone else just to not be seen as completely elitist and heartless. And, it must also only be competent raiders that don't want to do trial roulette, or waste their time on a pug steps of faith. Because only casuals waste their time on other people.

You do realize that by helping people clear and learn content you can identify good players this way who will, in-turn appreciate you helping them. Then you actually make a friend! omg! Then after doing this for awhile you will be able to make friends with many other good players!!! Then, then, you will have a social connection of players who CAN handle the content you want to fight.

Unless you were only referring to duty finder, then my example is not applicable. I only consider it a waste of time if people aren't listening. Like I made a real effort to duty finder T9 and try to help people by teaching them and talking to them and after the same guy got killed to dynamo for 9 pulls and people DPS wasn't pushing hard enough on phases 1 and 2, meteors were being stacked consistently and over 45 minutes of my time was being completely wasted on no one improving at all, it was clear that I was wasting my time so I left lol. But then Mono's example would make sense because in duty finder you can't even add a good performing player to your friends list so meh.

I can understand people's complaints about time wasted in duty finder. Maybe you'll get lucky and have that one group who listens. The groups I tend to get are full of anti-social mutes who never say anything no matter what you say to them. You are speaking advice and you always get those few people who aren't listening. You call them out and ask them why they didn't do what they were supposed to do and they still say nothing then proceed to mess up some more... Finally you have to RAGE at them rudely before they just say "Sry" ...

Seriously that happens to me more often than you think it's awful =/ So now a days if I queue something that isn't tank and spank and I offer advice and we wipe 2 times, no one owns up to their mistakes and, upon repeating my advice, people are still messing up. I leave and take penalty.

I did Trial Roulette this morning before work. Got Steps. Half the party were new. We -gasp- actually communicated with each other, gave a basic rundown on what to do and we one shot Vishap before he broke the 3rd ward.

    Steps doesn't need a nerf.

If encounters were like that on average, we wouldn't see people rage-quitting as soon as they see the Trial. I'm not going to be a prick like that since that benefits no one, but I'm just not touching the Roulette, because the trial is a time sink which does have the reward to justify playing it.

Steps of Faith sticks out like a sore thumb compared to anything in Trials Roulette. One good encounter isn't changing the fact that one failed attempt guarentees the Roulette is inferior to standard Crystal Tower, and if you get new bonus Crystal Tower, the trial is inferior period. The main problem isn't the difficulty, the problem is that the reward isn't worth the difficulty. We need the option to vote-reset, or buff the soldiery/poetics, or grant new bonus stuff,

This is a problem with the community, not the fight itself. No one has the patience to do anything, and rage quits the moment anything goes awry.

Look, I'm not going to sit here and say that there aren't people out there that drool on their keyboard, mash buttons, and gasp every time they see those pretty big numbers pop up on their screen but Steps is a fight that requires teamwork, communication and coordination. It is not a fight that you can just go in, faceroll/get carried, and one shot it like every other thing in this game.

When was the last time we had a fight that actually required this from the community that wasn't related to Coil or Extreme Primals? The Chrysalis was a step in the right direction, but Steps took it even further. Its not a hard fight. Its just that combined with the "skill" level of most players, and the lack of patience from others, is the reason why Steps has such a low success rate in the Duty Finder. It has nothing to do with the fight itself.

The only thing Steps needs is a "Surrender" command that, if the majority agrees like Vote Abandon/Kick, will reset the fight so you don't have to sit through five minutes of a failed run until Vishap destroys the last ward.

And just what the heck is so hard about Steps? You need teamwork and calm heads. Although it would be awesome if the encounter timer did not start until Vishap is actually attacked...

There's nothing wrong with Steps, it's just not very PUG friendly, and even upon explaining said mechanics, most average Joe's will need about 5 wipes before it actually clicks. Typically taking about 30 minutes to do so, or more. I'd kind of rather have the 30 minute penalty myself, would save me the headache.

    It's not that I forget, it's just that I don't care.

They should have moved it to the main story roulette or something. You might say that if you don't like it, don't queue, but that's exactly what me and probably many others have done, increasing queue times in general.
No, the roulettes were intended to speed up queues for content that's missing certain roles. The bonuses you get from them are your reward for helping these players A) get into their instance, and B) clear the content with your help.

All that Steps really needs is half-decent DPS, a tank who is okay-ish at picking up adds and a few people who can read instructions and play accordingly. If one player knows the fight and takes the time to explain and assign people their roles, more often than not you'll succeed.

Regarding my other post. I just reread the notes, yea I agree, that 3rd shadow would have been a pain anyway with the echo. Sometimes bahamut would get pushed by dots alone.

I didn't mean to imply that this thread was "loling" about the echo and it being easy... Actually I'm just thinking of the party finder messages on my home server leviathan after the echo came to turn 9 for the first day of the patch and the conversations going on in my linkshells... :x

"ECHO TIEMZ, come halp me clear turne nine plox kthx!" "um, have you done this before? Or know anything about the fight at all" "No, but there is echo nao!" "...."

Really like you all mentioned, the echo is probably going to be more of a pain for those who are clearing it. I know we already push it too fast in some stages. It will require adjustment to keep farming it. Our poor warrior hasn't got his axe yet... while others in my static have like 4 alt weapons... >.<

I'm truly pleased. No nerfs, outside that modification in T13 which is more than welcome. /clap Thanks for not taking the fun away from us, SE! <3 I loved the pony drop rate modification as well.
