dy·nam·ic /dīˈnamik/
Adjective: (of a process or system) Characterized by constant change, activity, or progress.
-Toriama's characters in their early days often stood stiff. Straight lines of action where prominent in his works but as he continued to grow as an artist, his characters loosened up and his characters took on more realistic and stronger poses with more curved lines of action. Things like hair and clothing have also become more loose and susceptible to movement in the wind or effected by gravity.
emoting present participle of e·mote
Verb: (esp. of an actor) Portray emotion in a theatrical manner.
-In the early days of Dragonball and Dr. Slump, characters used emotions that were more iconic of base feelings, rather than a clear expression of how they felt. His current art shows his characters are capable of portraying more complex emotions appropriately by subtle line work around the face where wrinkles should appear and stronger proportions in how the eyes and mouth relate.
stag·ing Noun/ˈstājiNG/
An instance or method of presenting a play or other dramatic performance. (in this case, his illustrations and artwork)
-He does a better job of conveying action, setting up scenes, and showing the importance of a character or item then he did in the past.
Potato, is just referring to the fact that he used to draw smaller characters like lumpy potato toddlers.
Now I'm done talking about this so feel free to make any closing point you want to.

the second i saw it was on the wii i stopped caring.....why the wii? the systems about to be dead in a year (when your game comes out) so are they just taking the easy way out by making it SD and having "bleh" graphics because its on the wii? me thinks so.
EDIT: After watching the videos, its not really an MMO, more like a hubbed game. If your not paying online fees over here il screw with it, but otherwise idc. From what someones link said it can be played 100% by yourself so its really just an online RPG.
...i just want monster hunter....

I think it's because they where working on it for the Wii long before the Wii U was known to anyone outside of Nintendo.
Never said the style would change, I said it would look a little better on Wii U, even if this was on PC or another system, this style would have still been used as well, it is the style of DQ after all. Heh calling me a fanboy too, how funny.... I own all the current gen platforms, and I have not even touched my Wii in months, just because I have an opinoin about Nintendo, and my favorite system is the NES, does not make me a fanboy, but what ever, I am not going to waist any more time on you.Hey mommy, i spot a nintendo fanboy bent out of shape because some people don't like a game's art style. The travesty!
Sorry to burst a big bubble here but you don't need more than a screenshot (and plenty video footage) to judge a game's character design, especially considering how well known (and incredibly fossilized) the style of the character designer in question is. The game is horribly cartoonish on the wii, and you can bet your monthly wages for a year that it won't change style on the Wii U. It'll have higher resolution textures, maybe the cel shading will be a tad more refined, but there's only so far you can bring cel shading, especially when you have to mantain parity of content.
If i want cel shading, I'll take a game with cel shading supported by good character design (like the one by Kosuke Fujishima and Mutsumi Inomata in Tales of Xillia, both completely obliterate toriyama in artistry, style and appeal), not this piece of crap that seem to be designed to appease five year olds.

Wow i smell a forum monkey trolling people. You got friends? Or you run those off w/ your piss poor attitude. SE needs to start banning you idiots that come on here and attack other posters repeatably. You know a simple i don't like it would have been a fine statement. BTW DQ is considered the most popular RPG series period. Mostly adults play DQ;most of them probably being 25-35yrs of age some even older. DQ games are not generally even made for children alot of them are harder than your of the mil FF or other RPG. You got a poor idea of what good illustration is Toriyama has grown over the years and refined his style. When your drawing its best to be unique and think outside the box toriyama is a shinning example of this and his fanbase and popularity speaks for it. And guess what if you dont like it dont post on this thread and don't comment DERP DERP!

I read SE's stock plummeted after that announcement.

Jesus christ, opinionated much? I find Toriyama's style ugly too, but it's completely subjective.
I also think it's funny you brought up Tales art as being any better. The style looks a little more realistic, but I fail to see how those designs look any less generic and anime-esque than DQ's...
