The Omega [Weapon?] - Pure Speculation?

Sorry, I can't remember where I ever read it or if it was just pure theorycrafting.

Did we ever actually get any ideas of there being an Omega [implied Weapon] that either the Garleans, Ascians, or Ul'dah Syndicate were after it?

I remember both Lolorito's and Telediji's name being involved.

I believe Nanamo mentioned it during the tea party with the other two Alliance leaders. Or with Raubahn.

Nanamo & Raubahn talked about it at the meeting with Alphinaud and us during 2.3. It was right after they couldn't offer aid to the Domans because the majority of the Syndicate voted agaisnt it (praise Hydaelyn). At that time, if I recall correctly, only Raubahn & Nanamo knew about it but that was quickly changed when a "rat" leaked the information.

Teledji was mentioned as he wanted to get access to Allagan technology (in general) from Carteneau; He was going to use the Ala Mhigan refugees to get it by having a plan/law/bill signed to allow him to put up Orphanages and other buildings there to supply the "rowdy" Ala Mhigans with work and a place to stay.

It was mentioned, I believe, at some manner of meeting about the "Cartenau Reclamation Bill" - a piece of legislation that would allow Ul'dah to annex territory in Mor Dhona. Teledji said he wanted territory there for helping refugees, but (as we all know) his real reason was because bits and pieces of Omega had been discovered in the territory he wanted to annex. I believe Raubahn and Nanamo talked with us and Minfilia about it, though I'd need to rewatch the cutscenes to pinpoint exactly what they said and to whom. Of course, Mor Dhona is agreed-upon neutral territory, so he was having a hard time getting that through.

That is part of the explanation behind the pvp Frontlines I thnk. The groups are fighting over the contested area because of the Allagan technology there including references to Omega. And the city leaders want to keep it contested to prevent anyone from actually claiming it.

Actually I think they outright stated that an inactive Omega lies under the Carteneau plains. It is one of the core reasons for the Frontlines conflict. The ongoing wargame is effectively a way the GC leaders established an effective stalemate between the city states to keep elements such as the Monetarists to seize the land in the hopes of awakening Omega.

Omega itself was a weapon like Ultima but while Ultima was to pacify primals such as titan and Garuda in level, Omega was designed to take down Bahamut if they ever lost control of the Elder Primal. Needless to say its power is very attractive to many.

The question is, was it to counter Bahamut the Primal, or Bahamut the First Brood? The latter adds a lot of implications for the plot of Heavensward.

I would say Bahamut, the Primal. The real question here is that if Omega's fuctional workings is only if Bahamut Primal is present? Or Can acctualy be used for different battle purposes?

Bahamut of the First Brood was long dead when Allag invaded Meracydia. The Meracydians summoned him from the grave to defend their nation when the Allagans started to overwhelm them. Omega was used to defeat and restrain Bahamut so that he could be imprisoned in Dalamud. Given that Bahamut the primal is supposedly far more powerful than the original though it would be safe to assume that Omega would easily overwhelm Midgradsormr's children.

Having said that we don't know how much more powerful the dragon kings may have gotten in the millenia since then. We do know that Omega is confirmed to have a role in the 3.0 story though so there'll definitely be something there.

    Main Scenario Quest: Revolution

-Raubahn and Nanamo call you in to talk about your efforts in quelling the refugee riots. After making you and Alphinaud promise not to tell anyone, they tell you those riots were incited by Teledji in order to get his "Cartenau Reclamation Bill," a piece of legislation to annex the Cartenau Flats, through in order to make it seem like the only viable solution to Ul'dah's refugee problems. After Alphinaud asks why Teledji would go to such lengths and risk so much for Cartenau, you're told that Omega, an ancient Allagan superweapon similar to but more powerful than the Ultima Weapon designed to be able to take on the likes of Bahamut himself, has been discovered there, and though it's nonfunctional at the moment anyone who was able to restore it would have the power to pretty much bring Eorzea under their heel. Presumably this is why Teledji is trying so hard to annex the Cartenau Flats.

    That's the gist of it.
