The reason is because SE has only three people working to combat RMT across all the worlds! It even says as much in the ending credits of 2.55. You can totally tell they value the NA as subscribers [insert eyeroll here].

How you can see in the picture of the OP, it is not always the same chracter, but 10 different characters at the same time.
You are correct, and no they haven't changed their stance hence my sig from earlier this month. It was the only post they deleted while issuing me the temp banNot to be that guy but, you're going to have to remove all those names from that screenshot or remove the screenshot entirely. The admins will ban you for player shaming, even is it's RMT. D:
Edit: Unless of course, they changed their stance on that matter. If so, carry on. Nothing to see here. >.> <.< :>
Unfortunately you'll find this across many games. NA customers will always be treated better, and most of the time the NA staff beat EU staff 3:1. They are even able to reply to GM tickets on NA servers much quicker in most games. On WoW I remember having to wait 3 days for a ticket. From then on I just IMed my friend in America to ticket the same thing and got a response within an hour.

I think he meant that their priorities are Japan > everyone else, not NA > EU.Unfortunately you'll find this across many games. All of those characters I'm sure sent multiple requests to to multiple other players. Obviously the RMTs can make more characters, but that wasn't the point. I was trying to point out that the RMTs are mostly likely the only brand new characters that are spamming constant obscenely long messages. If a lvl 1 character is sending out, I'm going to assume, hundreds of tells or friends request, within a matter of minutes, I would think that should throw up some sort of red flag. At the same time, if that same character is being added to the blacklist of multiple players, from players in multiple different location, that might also be an occurrence that might be worth looking into (or at least slowing down).

I am ... so confused. Like, really. Shouts, tells, friend requests from RMT - ok. I mean, not ok at all, certainly not in the amount we've been seeing in this game, but well, sort of a bundle.
Cumbersome, unintuitive, inadequate ways to deal with those? Even after one and a half year? That is annoying, at best.
However, RMT creating characters with names like "Sellgils" and such? Like, really? Being that shameless and that direct? Having the opportunity to be that shameless and that direct?? That is simply worrying. Especially when SE claims millions of accounts. For a game to not have the simplest of word filters, at the very least when it comes to character names, I do believe that is outstanding. Incredible. In all the wrong ways, of course.
I do recall talk about restrictions regarding character names, certain words being forbidden - but it seems they really kept it to a bare minimum, to avoid the most basic offensive words. If, at all, because with all this I'm not sure even that is there. What happened to common sense things? The amount of clouds/strifes/lightnings/farrons I see is staggering. And that's just four of the most popular ones. I do also recall having heard they would restrict names so that these, for example, won't swarm Eorzea. What on earth happened to that?? I'm afraid it's yet another of those things they decided to ditch, in order to save bandwidth and decrease data sizes - with how often we hear that, I'm willing to bet on it. But if it really is so... I do believe the situation is even more dire than we've been lead to believe. :/
ON A SIDENOTE, CARE TO FINALLY LIFT THIS STUPID 1K CHARACTER LIMIT ALREADY PLEASE?!
I don't think friend requests go away if the character gets banned. Banned characters aren't deleted.
Really? A few clicks is torture? It's annoying, sure, but... torture, really? o.O
Well, then here's where I look forward to getting a meta ban and I go down in history as Lord Done Goof'd. But no, honestly I think it needs to be talked about because it really is ruining the game. We don't even have addons that were supposed to be out 5-6 months after release which is what we were promised, which would have helped combat constant spams from these people.
1.) they already do this. i've once been suspended for absolutely no reason. it can happen anywhere, sometimes people just like to troll.
2.) i don't intend on playing 3.0 because of it. the first thing i do when log in? set status to /busy. this game is a very very pathetic state.
3.) we were never promised add-ons 5~6 months after release. we were never promised add-ons at all.
all-in-all, SE seems to be put almost no effort at all towards mitigating RMT activity. nor do they say they are going to do something. they leave us with absolutely no reassurance. either you deal with the spam, or disconnect yourself from socializing. i won't be playing this game for another year, that is for sure.
This is just another way the RMT are bypassing the chat filters that SE puts in. The character names are there for them to probably to advertise through friend requests.
They have to be very careful when updating the chat filters. There are players that use the chat. They can't just filter out every word the RMT uses because at some point, if they did, it's going to affect the playerbase one way or another.
Either you edit your post to bypass it, or stay within the limit. Pretty ironic, wouldn't you say?![]()
