Best way to fight RMT; find out what makes it so popular-->getting something of benefit for the gil. What is it? BiS crafter gear (in a lot of cases) and run selling are the major turning points. Why do people sell runs? It's often to make the ends meet to be able to afford those BiS items, as this game doesn't really give full time raiders much keys to make gil.

My proposition? Never make crafted/buyable gear BiS. That way, the benefit of gil is taken away. That in turn is also gonna affect run-selling, reducing it by a large margin. I do realize that some people RMT for expensive vanity items, but in any games I have played where the best gear can't be bought the RMT hasn't been anywhere as bad as here.

Also take more active role into banning those gold selling scrubs faster.

Cure gilselling by permanently making crafting irrelevant in endgame. I presume you also cure athlete's foot by shooting the foot off.

I'm glad that when I started, I didn't see any pm sent to me. It was later on they started to bug me.

As a fellow player on Jenova I feel your anguish. Best bet is too go on /busy status pretty much all the time. You'll have to remember to drop busy status to get into a party for something like Hunts of Fate groups. Also might want to drop it before going into raids if you want to see the 'Ready Check' prompts.

If you don't like having the red busy face up all the time the next option is muting or changing the PM notification sound to something less aggravating and moving /tell to its own window.

As far as blacklisting. Try not to blacklist after one message find the ones that send multiple tells in short spans and messages from multiple names advertising the same site.

Other than that not much you can do to combat it. Just deal....

I'm unoriginal and I've been using Selli since I was about 6 (my real name is Selina so it branched into the nickname Selli). I've never had an issue with it, in most of the MMOs I played the gil spammers just abused general /say chat or global chat.

the issue is the only server i have a character on that isn't spammed is Balmung, but the downside is none can make a character, as long as the RMT gets suckers or response, then they see a profit, if they weren't making profit they would stop :c and all they need to be considered a profit is someone buying gil from a 3rd party, or gaining something from the 3rd party, WoW was badly affected by this were people could buy 100gold by paying £40 (it was even on the news back in 2008 in the uk)

the best thing you can do is go on /busy or ignore them as best as you can, the thing SE can do is have an option that says "only allow tells from friends" "white list tells with the following words" "only allow tells from anyone when recruiting for PF" those 3 options would allow a lot of the RMT spam to be deleted, it wasn't as bad as 2.0 where they spammed Say Yell and Shout D: i am glad those days are gone.

You are very very lucky these days I am playing on Balmung and since a few weeks (the time we had to sign the new rules) the gil spammers are back again.

I rarely get 3 PMS during the day...I ll go up to 5 PMS but that is not that bad compared to other servers that the shout channel is infested by Gil sellers. Sometimes I don't get PMS in two days.
