    Quest Rewards Adjustments

I know many posts have been made about the futility of quests, but I am yet to see a dev response that implies when quest rewards are going to be adjusted (please correct me if i'm wrong). At current, the only rewarding quests are the main story.

    Why Quests are important:
    • Quests offer players the chance to explore the world and learn a lot of the lore (which we also currently lack). Exploring/Lore are one of the many important aspects that make an MMORPG memorable/playable for a lot of players (Especially players of the Final Fantasy franchise)

    • A lot of new players also enjoy questing and its important for player retention to have a system that encourages multiple aspects of leveling.

    • Quests take part of the tedium away from grinding. As someone who has grinded to 50 multiple times, it would be refreshing to have something to do to progress my level other than going to the same grind camp over and over and over, or doing the same behest over and over and over.

I completed a quest that required me to go to multiple city states and running around far outside out of town, dodging aggressive high level mobs, thus either consuming lots of anima or taking up 1+ hour of time. And the only reward was 300 SP.

At current, I feel that even with chocobos/airships being implemented, the Rewards Vs Time spent will not be even. In fact, some players will most likely have to spend more gil than what the quest is offering for the SP Reward equivalent to 1 or 2 mobs.

Whilst I agree that griding should be part of the leveling, I do feel that a healthy dosage of both questing/grinding can help to keep one determined and focused.

PLEASE adjust quest rewards (SP + Items) to reflect the difficulty/time consumption of the quest, or implement a Fame like system that FFXI had.

    i agree...

yet i hate quests. on the other hand, in ff11 the reward of doing quests was fame, not exp. i'm sure they'll do something similar.

quest-driven leveling is extremely formulaic and is not only boring the first time but unbearable the second time (imo).

building fame is enough of an incentive enough for me but you can spare me the lore, please. you heard one story, you heard them all; i do own books for a reason. mmo's are meant to evolve into an expression of your own story, not the tedious task of listening to someone else's.

Quests should be somewhat rare and not a means of getting exp as a main way to level.

Starting a quests should get you hyped for a good story with some cool cutscenes and intressting characters as well as pitting you against some intressting foes.

Have quests unlock futher quests/content upon completion as well as valuable ra/ex items rewards and reputation/fame for city factions or similar. I'd be fine with a decent exp reward as well adjusted to the difficulty and lenght of the quest, but more as a extra bonus and not the main reason for doing them.

The WoW, rift etc style of questing needs to go away, its dull and just a tedious grind, and we already have leves that supply this for the ones who enjoy such content as a means to level up.

Make quests special, make them cool, like side quests are in many great single player RPGs.

Quests that pay experience, gear, and gil, are just an MMO welfare system for those who cannot succeed playing with others.

I wholeheartedly agree, especially with the premise that you are coming from. More varied ways to gain experience is not a bad thing. I was just in a thread where I defended grinding and the chain mechanics, but this thread comes from the same perspective and echoes my sentiments exactly.

The biggest gap that needs to be closed is the difficulty:reward ratio. As of now in XIV, you are not aptly rewarded for difficulty or your time spent in my opinion. I could see easy repeatable fetch quests giving 300 experience points with a relatively moderate cooldown between quest completion and starting again, but for a 1 time thing that takes hours, that's not balanced. On the same token though, people should be more inclined to do the quest for the story than the progress, but when it comes to the repeatables.. meh.

I play well with others. How about giving us quests that are non soloable? (Excluding faction quests)

Those type of quests would definitely be something I could get more excited about.
