It's that you're making a huge leap and bounds to find similarities. "Wings, horns and frontal attack" is very generic and covers so many mobs. Diablos has horns, wings and frontal AoE. All Dragons fit that description as well.

It'd be like me saying DRK or Cloud is similiar to an anime protaginist because they wield a great sword, or that someone is similar to megaman because they use charge shots from an arm cannon.

Hmmm.. Rafflesia reaper from turn 6 doesn't necessarily look like those lv6 microchus outside of Gridania. I'm just saying that Arioch and Einhender might be related; perhaps the same species of creature or maybe the same one by any chance. There really isn't any other mobs in the game that look similar to those.

Actually Raffesia is probably more related to each other than arioch/Einhender. Same species and all, the former is corrupted by dalamud fragments. Hell, the abilities it uses aren't even exclusive to itself since Thousand-Cast uses both bloody carass and blighted.

...Meanwhile in your comparison, Arioch doesn't even have the proper talons to even grip a weapon like a mini cannon.

Since there's usually more than one type of mob within a family some of them are bound to be similar.

Same base model is used, all monster/mounts are just a variation of a some base model. While not as obvious as palette swapping in old 2D sprite games, you can still tell.
Almost none of the bosses have unique or new base models. Exceptions being primals, Fenrir, FF11 or FF13 base models.

Nael Deus Darnus and the boss of the Amdapor Keep (HM) is the same model, and no other creatures share it. I doubt they are related haha (I could be wrong).

I think he means wireframe, meaning they share battle animations/floaty walking/etc. They're designed drastically different but use the same wireframe for movement and such.

I can't confirm this I just think thats what he meant. You can see several similarities (especially in the fingers/arms) from just those pictures however.

At least it isn't as blatent reuse as FFXI was XD. Kill bats at level 1, kill the exact same model bats at level 99 too ^_^
