Catching up

Exactly how many fights requiring a player to group up are there from Leviathan to the last required MSQ? Needing to catch up and having avoided dungeons for a awhile because of the drama that arises, I would like to know from others who have finished.

The less I have to deal with group drama the less painfull it will be I hope.

Striking Tree (Hard) (Ramuh Primal trial)
Snowcloak (dungeon)
Ank Akk Ampitheatre (sp?) (Hard) (Shiva Primal trial)
Keeper of the Lake (dungeon)
Chrysalis (trial)
Steps of Faith (trial) (final 2.X story boss battle)

That's not including solo instanced fights you have to do as well in between those main dungeons and trial battles.

Really not too bad when you consider DPS queues are surprisingly shorter at 50 (sometimes) compared to lv30~49 lol.

Well, it's not so much as the que, that doesn't bother me like players dropping out because they don't want to do certain dungeons. It's when others throw tantrums and/or start getting abusive. That is counter productive and wastes everyone's time. I just have a low tolerance in this FF for that. I generally don't chat much while doing a duty as I am trying to pay attention to anything productive that is said. That's why I am having to play catch up, well besides being one of those casuals lol. If a duty fails I don't even throw a fit myself. Chalk it up to learning I suppose.

When I got to Titan HM one piece of advice I could have used was stop after you move out of AoE so server could update my position. Instead all I ever saw or got was abusive tantrums. Nobody ever said anything about server needing to update position. If that is true of course.

Most of the post-game trials are fairly straightforward now as long as you pay attention to the mechanics, people are so massively overgeared in general that it's a lot more forgiving on errors. You still can't ignore mechanics entirely, and I'd strongly suggest you watch a video of the fight on Youtube first so you know what to expect, but it's really nothing to be too concerned about. Most of the people in there are either farming for cards or doing it on a daily roulette, so unless you're abjectly terrible (and it's hard to be so bad as a DPS that you stand out) it's more effort than it's worth for people to get into drama about anything.


Steps of Faith is the only particularly tricky trial, definitely look that one up beforehand as there's some very specific non-combat mechanics to it. The others you can pretty much just wing it if you're so inclined just by paying attention to AOEs and doing what everyone else is doing, but Steps is a nightmare unless everyone has a decent idea of what's supposed to be happening.

You should also read a guide about Crysalis. There are some good tips about this trial in guides, like activating your buff skills before you get sucked into the portal to another room, because the time of active buffs (and debuffs) get multiplied by 10 while passing the portal.
