I was dpsing when able to. I just wasn't holying. I was even trying to dps a head with high health with stone II + Aero I & II (which is superior to holy in single target dps) to try and lessen the disparity between the heads, as if the lowest head would have died, the others would not have died in time for the faster cast. Even as a WHM, I never overuse holy. It's an MP hog, and is no replacement for dps failing en masse. When you've got people dying left and right, as is frequent in WoD, that MP holy would use is better spent on doing your primary job, raising as a healer. If a group is relying on holy spam to meet a dps check, it's playing with fire. Holy is just a bonus.
Holy is a bonus if people use it, it was not intended to be a viable replacement for a lack of dps. If it was, it wouldn't cost so much MP.
If it comes to a point where dps are dying so much that I'm able to output considerably more damage with a couple of holies than most of them are combined...well, there are some major issues going on that are not my fault, and in which case, blaming me is unreasonable yet again.
And yes, it is casual. Just because players are terrible at it doesn't make it hardcore content. WoD's mechanics are very predictable and intermittent, its raw damage is very manageable. In short, it is designed to be easy enough for the casual player to complete.
People not being able to turn away during mortal gaze or step into a comet for 5 seconds or find a group to stand in during lightning is far more ridiculous and unforgivable than messing up mechanics in say, coil, which is hardcore content. These are simple mechanics that require some serious derping to die to.
In addition to what was said above, I'd like to point out that bard songs do not require multitasking. One button click activates a song. A healer has to watch health, and if they do dps, have to increase their awareness to manage their dps and manage their healing. Some people are not comfortable doing this or are not skilled enough to do this, and for much better reason than a bard has for not playing songs.
If a healer knows that dpsing will distract them from healing, I'd rather them leave the dpsing to the dps. Tunnel vision is a real thing that really affects some people.
Not to mention, a bard playing songs can make or break a run. A healer dpsing, short of dps lacking during dps checks (which is dps not doing their primary jobs well enough, not healers failing to do their primary job), will not. They have different levels of importance.
