I don't recall any check marks or asking me if I wanted to keep it for breeding. From what I was hearing was I had to retire my chocobo to breed a new one. Didn't help that the chocobo race breeder isn't even at the gold saucer and wouldn't even recognize I ever had a chocobo when I tracked him down.

I haven't logged in ever since losing my chocobo. Progression wise in the game I have the upgraded magitek bow, 123 avg item level, beat extreme Shiva and all the primals many times. I have 3 trade skills up to lvl 50. Other than maybe one more story quest from the most recent patch, all I've really had content wise to beat was the last 2 missions in the second coil of bahamut and the last coil of bahamut, which are very stressful duties to try. I got over 40 triad cards, but grinding the same npcs over and over again to try getting rare cards has gotten old and no one wants to verse in triad anyways since usually one person has a huge edge in how many 2 or 3 star cards they can use compare to the other guy, making it uncompetive

Losing all those countless hours I put into my chocobo might of been the nail to cause me not to renew if I didn't already preorder the new expansion. However with me and my free company locked out of the housing system for joining the server late (Balmung) and the triad grind upward only making it less fun to play with others (as even if I got enough cards so I can use as many 3 stars as I want in my deck, nobody without a full 3 star+ deck will want to play me); I'll probably grind through the heavensward's main content, but feel losing my chocobo just highlights how pointless it is to spend so many hours grinding into something repetitive.

I still don't know why I didn't get a breeding pass, considering he was race rank 40 when I retired him and I never said I didn't want one. I was looking all over my inventory and talking to everyone in the chocobo area to see the next step in the breeding process. Only to realize I pretty much deleted millions in gil, hours spent and all my triad earningins in an instant, due to unclear directions or menus on how to breed.

The only thing I remember them asking me if I was sure about is my chocobo becoming gold saucer property if I retire him, I said yes expecting to get a breeding pass, but never did. Starting to regret that preorder, since this has been a very disappointing experience and only reason I was logging in is gone. I doubt a new race and class will change much, but guess I'll still check it out. Even though pretty much my full freecompany is mostly inactive now, with even the most motivated of us to earn the money to get us a free company house realizing there aren't any.

Is there any way to get a chocobo back retired or get the breeding pass I never received? Does this game really instruct people to pretty much delete their character with no hope of restoration before you advance your max level? My chocobo is just gone, nothing to show for it at all. The game should have it after you breed your chocobo, it retires or something. Having it you retire it first, so you're left with no chocobo or pass when its retired is really bad game design. Even if its not my main character, I feel as if my character got deleted. This has managed to ruin my ffxiv experience.
