I totally agree.

One of the most memorable (in a scared way at first, then thinking back on it, in a good way ) was FF XI's Qufim Island.

I remember when Darkness / Night hit Qufim Island the Wights and Banshees arose... and as newbies everyone huddling together until Daybreak. Good times.

Excellent example.

Not an MMO, but when nightfall first hit in the original Gears of War campaign I felt very immersed. Only reason I brought this up cause GOW3 comes out soon and it's on my mind era day!
