I would love to see weather and day/night add more danger or change the mobs..
Sandstorms being out aggressive Cactuar, night undead mobs (not just human ones, but of other creatures even old long dead species) and so on
this happens south of bloodshore and around cedarwood at night once in awhile. Magicked bones pop at night, and its been happening since launch.
I love this idea. ^_^ I also think, for the weather idea, during certain weather causes certain Elementals to become more active. Like, during a thunderstorm, Lightning Elementals wondering around, or during snow-storms, Ice ones start roaming around...

I'd like to see more variation between day and night too. As well as having nocturnal mobs such as bats / undead appearing at night, other mobs could exclusive to day time or sleep during the night, I remember some sheep in XI that did that.
I also think it could be a good mechanic to change safe paths through zones depending on the time of day, so at night, aggressive mobs come out blocking some routes but daytime mobs blocking paths sleep allowing safer access via a different path. Adds a bit more variation in travelling to different places. Obviously this could be tricky with most of the current maps, but it could be something to bear in mind.
Count me in on liking this idea, definitely. I'd rather like slightly longer days and nights while they're at it, too.
'Might also be nice to make Astral and Umbral affiliated things more potent during the day and night, respectively.

I love when you come up with a idea and it's in FFXI they go "This is not FFXI" or "go back to ffxi" how about you shut up. This game is noting like how FFXI used to be. If FFXIV had half of what ffxi had but in a new way and better this game would have not sucked and would be P2P right now.
Anyways back on topic i think we need more danger for night time something that would make players want to stay away from some part of the game or make them go to fight. In FFXI we had stuff that pop at night that made partying more fun and hard it give it a little more fun.
Night time does not last very long in ffxi/FFXIV so it a good idea to add some danger into the mix.

Just adding my voice to this; I'd love this idea. But not only skeletons, changes between night and day in general. Åerhaps more wolves in the Shroud during the night, in exmaple.

One of the most memorable (in a scared way at first, then thinking back on it, in a good way) was FF XI's Qufim Island.
I remember when Darkness / Night hit Qufim Island the Wights and Banshees arose... and as newbies everyone huddling together until Daybreak.Good times.
Not an MMO, but when nightfall first hit in the original Gears of War campaign I felt very immersed.Only reason I brought this up cause GOW3 comes out soon and it's on my mind era day!
