Or a demon, based on what Yoshi-P said about the females (you can either make them look cute, or 'succubus' like). Until SE give us more details, excluding what they've already said, anything about them is purely fan speculation.

Again, to emphasize, he was talking about "appearance." Succubi in FFXIV have horns, Au Ra have horns, thus if you wanted to make a "sultry" Au Ra it would look like a succubi, since they're a point of common reference within the game.
This in no way implies they're demons. Especially since the focus of the entire expansion is going to be dragons, and not a single mention of demons has even been made outside of side stories.
They're dragon people, not demon people. If they were demon people something other than a reference to facial features would be mentioned.
