    Crafting your own Artisan's Set?

    Hey everyone,

After taking a long break I've decided to come back to the game. Looking at my crafting, I'd like to be able to craft up to 4-star. I've currently got max-meld on most of my crafting class-specific stuff (though it looks like I need to upgrade my Choker and Earrings?) So far, the steps I need to take look to be:
    1. Get at least around 60 BSM desynth
    2. Use the Fieldcraft I and Battlecraft I's to get the Demimateria books for LTW and GSM
    3. Get the i55 accessories from those books
    4. Get around 90-100 BSM desynth to get Mastercraft Demimateria
    5. Make 4-star HQ/NQ tokens to get a Supra (boost up Quality bar without risking item to unlock Master Book IIs with RNG HQs)
    6. Make the Artisan Offhand
    7. Make rest of 4-star HQ tokens to get my Master Book IIs
    8. Use my 100 Leves for ingredients for the Lucis turn-in
    9. Moonstone/Oakknot farm daily
    10. Get Lucis when the above 2 are completed
    11. Make the rest of my Artisan gear
    12. Spend all my money melding materia

Basically, I'm wondering if this is a chicken and the egg scenario. Is it possible for me to make the Artisan gear before I actually have it? Is my order even correct? Any guidance you guys could give me would help

    Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks to Superskull85, I seem to have a trajectory now. Are there any tips/tricks I should be utilizing to speed things along?

I've recently started bringing up my crafters. I took a different route and asked a friend to make me an Artisan set to help speed up my progression (my goal is to get as far as possible before Heavensward). However from my experience you do need to a bit more than what you mentioned depending on when you stopped. I'm going to assume you have i55 gear with pre-55 accessories and Patrician's head. If that is the case you'd actually need (to be solo):

    1) Get at least around 60 BSM desynth to get Fieldcraft Demimateria I and Fieldcraft Demimateria I & III (for this I actually used GSM as it is more cost/time effective but BSM helps for a later step)
    2) Use the Fieldcraft I and Battlecraft I's to get the Demimateria books for LTW and GSM
    3) Get the i55 accessories from those books
    4) Get Mastercraft Book 1 requiring HQ 2-star turn-ins (Darksteel Ingot for example)
    5) Get around 90-100 BSM desynth to get Mastercraft Demimateria
    6) Craft the Master Book 1 turn-ins to get Supra
    6) Craft the Mastery Book 1 turn-ins to get Artisan's head
    7) Obtain Artisan's secondary tool (vendor)

From here I believe you'd have to farm a lot of seals for the Lucis turn-ins, try to get HQ, trade-in NQ for your materials back, etc. Then you can get the Artisan left side. I believe, from talks with veterans crafters and my own experiences, that is how you'd need to progress. I believe you even need the Mastercraft Book II before Artisan gear which requires a different turn-in which uses Fieldcraft III.

On top of all that you need 180 Moonstones (seals/Ixali) and 60 sealants for crafted Artisan secondary tool, gear and Lucis combined (which is 480 Ixali Oaknaughts or 60 days of Ixali quests using the highest 2 sets of missions). So at a minimum for pure best gear you'd to put in 2 months of work (2.5-3 if you have not started Ixali quests).

Again I did make some assumptions about your gear so your steps may vary and I may have missed some steps. It is a large undertaking which is why I asked some friends for help/assistance in obtaining gear. You would need to buy Mastercraft Demimateria (4) to go my route at least assuming you can make everything else you need.

Hope that helps coming from a player that is recently going through the process.

Thanks Superskull85! Based on your advice, this is probably what my current progression should be:
    1. Get at least around 60 BSM desynth
    2. Use the Fieldcraft I and Battlecraft I's to get the Demimateria books for LTW and GSM
    3. Get the i55 accessories from those books
    4. Get around 90-100 BSM desynth to get Mastercraft Demimateria
    5. Make 4-star HQ/NQ tokens to get a Supra (boost up Quality bar without risking item to unlock Master Book IIs with RNG HQs)
    6. Make the Artisan Offhand
    7. Make rest of 4-star HQ tokens to get my Master Book IIs
    8. Use my 100 Leves for ingredients for the Lucis turn-in
    9. Moonstone/Oakknot farm daily
    10. Get Lucis when the above 2 are completed
    11. Make the rest of my Artisan gear
    12. Spend all my money melding materia

I already have the Artisan Spectacles I believe and I have already started farming for the Moonstones and leveling up my Ixal reputation to get the Oaknots going. I meet the minimum requirements to craft the Supra tokens, just need access to all the materials needed. The two steps I have italicized I can probably do as I go as I already meet the stat requirements for the items themselves.

    Does this look right?

Pretty much. For 2) and 3) I just assumed you never desynthed an item before since you did not have i55 accessories and they require Fieldcraft I's. However I guess you could also just buy them. I don't recommend skipping desynth since you need 28 Mastercraft Demimeteria I believe for everything you need. They cost between 100 000-200 000 on Sargatanas depending on the "mood' of the market.

    9) I'd do alongside everything else given the commitment you'd need.

Also again keep in mind I no veteran crafter by any means so some things may be off a bit.

P.S. Gathering has similar gearing like Artisan's does if/when you want to do that.

It's possible make your own artisan set with supra and melded artisan offhand, along with fully melded AF. When I did this though, I did have to use sharkfin to meet the 453 craftsmanship number as well to get a bit of CP.

All four star crafts have the same stats as each other. You could try your hand at making an arachne velveteen before starting the artisan apron; It takes the exact same amount of progress steps and has the same quality pool.

You can also meld non-HQ artisan pieces (excluding the apron) and still reach the cap, though it would involve overmelds.

I should probably *not* post on the Forums when I'm half-asleep XD I should have asked "how do I get to a place where I can make an Artisan's Set"

if you can craft 3* you can make the offhands, if you have 4* stats you can craft the gear (assuming books are unlocked)

so no you don't need those things beforehand but it helps... however if you buy them why bother to craft them.? the only thing you would gain was having your name as the crafter for your gear... which to me is a valid enough reason.

some of the things you need are much easier and just as cheap to buy of mb nowadays so look into that, youll save yourself a lot of time.
