You missed the "current gen" part apparently. Also, Phantasy Star Online is an instanced dungeon lobby based game, and as such, not really even an MMORPG (at least nothing like FFXIV).You say MMOs shouldn't be on consoles. FFXI and Phantasy Star Online disagree. Those lasted for years (only now is FFXI being shut down for PS2, but then again it's being halted on development anyway.) As to the RMT issue, that's a problem with every single game that has trade-able currency. Not as easy to combat as most people think. SE could do some more about it, like account wide ignores that don't tie to the blacklist, much like WoW has done.
PC master race bigotry aside, the development of FFXIV for PS3 benefits all FFXIV players through a broader base of players, more players, graphics optimization for PS3 that resulted in much lower hardware requirements for PC users as well, allowing even more PC players to join. Until such time as a developer of FFXIV posts to this forum confirming beyond doubt that the BL is limited to 200 solely because of the limited system memory, the point is moot. Prejudiced comments about console gamers, console systems or similarhave no place in this or any discussion and simply reveal the limitations of the mentality of those making the comments.
No one said any prejudiced comments about console gamers. It's a fact that the PC is better when it comes to what it can do compared to a console. If you take that as some insult, than you might possibly find other facts prejudicial as well: The grass is green. The sky is blue. Farts are smelly (well, maybe there is someone whose farts smell like roses, but I've yet to discover this person).
I feel for PS3 players, I do, but sorry, it is holding the game back. That's not even something that can be argued.
The one comment about Japanese not wanting to replace outdated technology with newer and better technology, you mean? That comment? Because not seeing any other posts that could be considered offensive to console gamers.
Also, that comment is partially true. Japan has largely ignored the PC in place of consoles for a very long time, and are just starting to pay attention to the PC. I'm a fan of JRPGs so I pay attention to that kind of thing as I always found it a bit annoying how I could never really find many JRPGs (and even the few you can find are either really old ports or just plain terrible JRPGs) for the PC.
