He's actually kind of right, and neither of those two games have been relevant for a long time. I'm sorry to say. I loved FFXI when it was fresh but that was a decade ago. The biggest problem is that consoles are generally out of date and fall behind PCs around 6 months after launch. As a result, and because developers want to spread their product across as many platforms as possible to maximize profits, the level at which games are developed are held back. The PS4 I think is capable of being in a position where it doesn't hold this advancement back too much, but in the long run it still will. The biggest reason is because with a PC if you start lagging behind you can replace a part here replace a part there and get back up to speed. With a console you can't do that. You can't just add more ram or update the graphics processor so it causes issues, especially with games that are connected cross platform.

Simple truth is FFXIV should have never been developed for the PS3, it was an aged console that is in the final stretch of it's lifespan and everyone knew PS4 was just around the corner. They should have waited for PS4 but their wallets got bigger than their brains so here we are.

Eitherway I'm not so sure the blacklist thing is an issue of limitation on the PS3. Who you have listed in your blacklist could just as easily be stored server-side as client-side and very well could be for all we know, unless someone from SE has come out and specifically stated that it is stored on the client.

The only real limitation I could see in that case is the PS3's ability to process a very large list of names that it needs to display when the blacklist UI is brought up, but even then that can be dealt with.
