I was hoping we'd get the FF4 type of Dark Knight - a class where one risk their soul for the power of darkness, which they either bow too, or try to tame and use for good purposes.

There's nothing saying that won't be the case. No matter the game, Dark Knights all wield the power of darkness - and the power of darkness is tied to either the Void or Zodiark in XIV. It's likely dangerous to use either way.

Can't really learn more until Heavensward launches though.
