    crafting materials in bags, options?

Hey all, just wondering if someone was not looking at leveling every professio craft, what do you do with all those mats filled in your bags? Is there any other purpose? Worth selling them all on marketplace? I just don't think I'll end up leveling all if any crafting professions. If the event I don't, it would be nice to free up the space as they are currently filling my retainers up.

    Thank you

Its depending on server and material. If you don't plan to keep all the mats or use them for own crafting check prize on MB and decide if its worth putting up or if you just sell to next best vendor.

A lot of mats aren't worth selling - just check through them on the MB (click "sell items in your inventory" or "retainer," wherever you keep it, then click through them all checking their prices there.) and vendor the rest if you have tons of them.
If they're easy to get, just sell them. Animal skins, bat wings, animal sinew, fleece (sells well, though), etc are very easily obtainable. At least I assume they are, considering while leveling I end up with 35173508 of them.

There is no apostrophe in Au Ra.
Stop adding one three years later.

That is correct though I would turn skins into leather and hang onto Fleece if LTW/WVR is what is being leveled. You'll needs a lot of them; more than what you may even have (for example 1 stack of Fleece is a pretty small amount for what you will eventually need).

    Per the topic:

Because I have gone through this recently I can attest to what you "need" and what you "want." What to keep and what to get rid of. Typically speaking anything special for ALC or CUL you should just try to sell. Daily turn-ins require some much variety in materials that you might as well gather/hunt as you need it (or just buy it since, assuming you have a battle class, you will get the Gil you need just doing dungeons for the minimal that you spend). Generally any skins will be useful for LTW at some point. Anything wool-like will be useful for WVR with Apkallu Down being the least useful - you won't need a lot.

If you have done some gathering than any ore is going to be useful (except HQ iron, copper, tin or zinc after a certain point). Any ash or sand is useful for later ores. Most BTN materials are not unless it is thread or wool-like for WVR. I'd sell all gems since you need so little of them. If you have Diremite Web keep it. It is a very common drop but you will also need a lot of for WVR. Keep all logs and lumber you get but you should be able to get rid of branches. Branches are used far less often.

The reason I say get rid of of the miscellaneous items is because if you need large amounts of them you can easily hunt/gather for them ahead of time. Around level 30 you will need to start gathering shards anyways which will bring you to ares to get the odd items you'll need for mass leveling via pure crafts. However if you are doing daily turn-ins and Beast Tribe you'll find pretty quickly that you will not be needing these odd items as you will not have the daily time to really make use of them.

Thread/wool-like items, woods, ores/sand/ash and leather/alumen are the items you should keep in your inventory/Retainer if you have limited space. Below those would be blood, branches and sinew. Everything else is really considered an odd item and is not all that common.

I once had an entire dedicated to nothing but random drops I got. I kept all of it until level 30 crafters. I got rid of everything but the very useful and commonly used items. It made my crafting a lot easier to manage allowing me to craft in place for a long time before needing to sell a crafted item I made to the Marketboard. It also allowed me to stock up early on Lucis items you'll need. So I hope this advice helps you to not be a hoarder.

At the beginning you want to Keep everything you get cause you are thinking hmmmm maybe i will use it later for crafting But i would also give you the advice to check the MB and sell it. If you start leveling a crafter it is equite easy to get most of the materials by farming or a vendor.

There are just to many different materials to keep them all

One notes that animal skins and animal sinew are available very cheap from a lot of NPC vendors, and bat wings from the Culinarian's Guild. Fleece and its products can't be had from NPC vendors, which is probably why it sells so well. Neither can Diremite Webs, which also sell well, but the fact that you can get Undyed Velveteen from the Sylphic Vendor (and also it only uses one Dew Thread if you make it yourself) cuts down on the demand.
