...Okay so you made it even more confusing.
...Okay so you made it even more confusing.
I understand what you mean now. Although, I think this is more of a problem with how players see ilvls...Is it so hard to understand the issue here xD Alright I'll rephrase it.
Every DPS wants more damage output than other players. We all understand it. Thus with the same ilvl, the player who can deal more damage will "win" the damage contest at its ilvl.
That being said, people make videos saying "i120 600+ dps monk parse" or something. I was super confused seeing how a i120 monk can bootshine crit 850; as we all know that bootshine auto crit from behind. It just auto crits and has nothing to do with personal play style or skills. I only critted about 780 max when i was i120 as a monk, and thats with blood for blood. Yes I understand that crit number does not equal dps; i have to calculate SS and crit chances and blah blah. But i know for a fact that I didnt get to 600+ dps when i was i120. Bootshine crit number is just an example.
The idea is not that they are extremely good or on another level with players who have the same ilvl. Thats like false advertising lol.
For example, my BLM is currently 126, wearing demon skirt, crafted belt and Shiva bracelet.
The majority of players would probably think I haven't gotten all my poetic gear pieces yet, or that I'm just gearing wrong or something, because I could be 130 if I just change some armor around, but I don't want to do that.
Item levels mean nothing, and what's best, all depends on what content you are gearing for and of course what stats are on the item.
For the content I've done so far with my BLM, and what gear I have available(have only gotten the head piece for BLM in FCoB), my gear will give me more DPS than my 130 option...
The majority would just use the highest ilvl and be done with it... That's why I don't even like how ilvls work.
