    A question about Ascension

So, I'd been playing Indolent Imperial for MGP, and noticed something a few times. When I go in to take a card whose Ascend bonus brings its side up to 10 or more, it doesn't seem to let me take it with a side that adds up to a higher number. So if I try to take a side that's 7+3 (or even A+1) with a side that's 6+5/6, nothing happens. I'll admit this is usually the final play before the end of the match.

My question is: Are sides with a score of A/10 just automatically invincible, or is this just down to how Ascension is calculated? It's a bit odd that once a side hits a certain value, I just can't take it back regardless of bonus.

I have yet to try this on something that explicitly has an Ace and is unaspected; I'll look into it a bit more and take screenshots if necessary.

A/10 is highest value during Ascension.

An "A" or a card that has Ascended to a value of 10pts (A) can't be flipped except for in a few situations.

    - Plus/Same rules
    - Fallen Ace

Plus is the only one that allows you to use A and add with other numbers to complete the Plus Rule. Ascension of a 9+3 will never flip an A or anything that has ascended to 10.

Side values cap at A even if Ascension would take them higher.

Which, if you're playing with an all Beastman deck, should make it painfully easy to smash his face in.

A (10) is the max any card can have on any side. Even though your card has +2 Ascension over a base value of A (10), it still only counts as A (10) and not 12, and will therefore not be able to flip a card with a non-ascended A (10)

Cards with can be captured on their A side only by having the Same or Plus rules trigger, or by a lower-numbered card if the Reverse rule is in effect. In any other situation, a card that only has A sides facing is invincible. Depending on the rules in play, and how cards are arranged, you might be able to flip them over with a combo from using Plus or Same on other adjacent cards.
