Let us glamour any headgear please!

I know you guys (the community team) have said that requests for specific items to be made glamour-able regardless of class would be considered, and I think headgear in general is a prime candidate for this change.

I would personally like to use the ironworks hood of casting with my tank's armored suit. I see no reason why I should not be able to use that item as a glamour when I am allowed to hide my headgear altogether. The reverse should be true for mage classes as well. I have no trouble imagining a healer wearing a helmet atop their robes.

Some of the headgears (or even full sets occasionally) are so close to identical (MNK and DRG ironworks), that I don't even understand why they wouldn't be glamour-able by the other class.

Really, I just want more options for glamour than "Hey a cool set; better glamour the full set because nothing else matches it. Oh, and I better make sure I'm prepared to look identical to every other tank."

Thank you for your consideration and keep up the fantastic work! I can't wait for Heavensward!

I'd be happy of them to loosen the gear restriction in regards to glamour, but that wont happen, despite there being plenty of in-game npc's that are wearing gear not "meant" for them such as those conjurers in full templar set

made a thread about dropping class restrictions on eyepatches/glasses a while ago, got a response to request specific items and dev team would look into it.

I agree, but I think just easing up on the restrictions of the head-slot isn't enough. There is no actual legitimate reason for the strict glamour system we have now. My character can switch between all these "jobs" but can only wear certain armors when he picks up a different weapon? The idea that casters would be unable to actually put anything other than cloth on themselves seems bizarre. I'm a hero, I slay primals, but putting on a metal helmet is beyond my ability when I'm holding a staff?

I've heard the argument that it's for aesthetic reasons, or to keep classes recognizable but neither of those reasons make any sense at all. Aesthetically people can already make themselves look like a hot mess with the system we have, tanks can go into battle in bikinis or in their underwear (emperor's items), or people can fight in wedding dresses and moogle costumes. As for classes, since the weapons can't really change and we know what weapon each class uses the classes will be noticable no matter what.

Sure, people may make themselves look worse, but lots of people already look terrible as is. If somebody works to get a certain piece for glamor let them use it how they want. Lore-wise it makes sense that in reality people can choose the kind of armors they wear. If they need to place restrictions on it for PvP (lol) then fine.

Well... understand that they did address this with recent patches adding glamour-centric glasses and an eyepatch, so to say they haven't done anything in that regard is rather incorrect. As for hoods and other headgear that's presently specific to the classes, there's probably not any plans for them just yet.

I'm not insinuating that they're ignoring the pleas for lifting glamour restrictions. I'm just suggesting a sort of middle ground, or a step in the right direction.

Headgear is usually not a piece that has enough visual impact to define a class so I figure allowing free use of it for glamour would be lore friendly enough to be something the devs might consider.

So much this! It's time for Class, Race, and Gender restrictions to be removed from gear!

Race and Gender are another thing entirely, as removing those restrictions would require redesigning the gear to fit characters of another race/gender. That's quite a bit of modeling rework.

Class, though, no redesign is necessary; the models are already there in the game to fit the equipment to your character's body. The excuses given early on (tanks should look like tanks, healers should look like healers, etc) are holding less and less water with each Miqo'te WAR that waltzes into an instance wearing a bikini and Moogle head...
