    DX11 Performance

I just saw the comparison pictures for DX9 and DX11 version http://jp.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/blog/

My question is, how do you think this will affect a slightly older graphics card?

I'm getting my bros old PC (i5 3570k, HD7950 and SSD), and as for what I know, if I over clock both of those (GPU can be overclocked a lot), I should be able to run the game smoothly.

I don't have any clue what will change in the DX11 client, all I've heard is that it is more efficient... But is that added efficiency, enough for me to increase the graphic settings, so that I get those shiny good looking effects?

There is a benchmark coming very soon, I know, but I can't wait

I can't see past the terrible, messed up lines on the floor tiles to the left, nearest the viewer. ><

If your card supports DX11, which yours would, the impact on performance should be negligible, if they do it proper. It's not like they're adding an HD texture pack that actually puts more load onto your card.

Hrm, I'm just hoping that with DX11, crossfire will finally be supported. I have 2 gfx cards yet only one gets abused when playing this game. Lately it's been getting pretty hot (so far it has managed to get up to 89 degrees celsius) and I have to alt-tab out of FFXIV to get it to cool down before alt tabbing back in. This is with the on board fan at 100% plus a huge rotating fan blowing directly into my case (ghetto rigged), even though my case already has 4 fans built into it.

The second graphics card stays at a constant 30-32 degrees C which is pretty much the idling temp (and normal since it's not being used). I checked other games, and my main card would normally get into the 50s which is fine and normal imo, but for some reason FFXIV makes it go nuts.

My hope is that if crossfire compatability comes with the DX11 update that the game puts less stress on just one card and both become able to share the load like they are suppose to.

Its known for a fact that SLI will be supported which "SHOULD" mean that crossfire should be as well. But they haven't used the words crossfire as far as I'm aware.

It may be painful to do, but enable the FPS limiter and you'll likely see a reduction in stress. My 760 goes wild if I keep the limiter off.

What? Is that an in-game graphical setting or something I do in the graphics card controls?

Edit: I found it in the Display Settings but I'm not sure what option does what tbh. 1/1? 1/2? 1/4?

They're the fractions of your refresh rate.
So if you use a 60htz monitor, 1/1 would be 60FPS, while 1/2 would be 30FPS, and 1/4 would be 15FPS.
Since one of the 2.55 updates, it's never been able to calculate my monitors refresh rate (it's 30) so they all say 0FPS for me, lol. But you can enable each one and see the FPS at the top of the display settings window change.

Ah. Yeah it says 0FPS on mine as well. I went with 1/1 but don't really notice a difference and my card seems to behave the same as not having the limit on. I might just deal with it, tbh it's not too bad to just alt-tab to cool my card off. Far from ideal, but oh well.
