afaik, AMD has to put out drivers that enable crossfire for FFXIV, nVidia did when the game was launched.

I'm sure they said this will increase performance cause it streamlines the processing or some technical jargon. I'll find the quote. Until I can find it, here is the reveal video from the Tokyo FanFest.

EDIT:
Awesome to know they will continue to add to it. Hopefully some texture packs to satiate the 1.0 crowd.DirectX 11 will arrive with the Heavensward expansion later this year, where they plan to add even more DirectX 11 features after its launch.
SourceIn addition, players will find that DirectX 11 will be less resource-intensive for GPUs that support it. In some cases this will also result in an improved frame rate.
Furthermore, with the DirectX 11 version, characters will be rendered with uncompressed textures, making them look even more impressive. The visual quality of objects in the background has also improved, and even the texture of characters’ skin will look more realistic.
The info is about two thrids the way down the page.

It'll be better.I just saw the comparison pictures for DX9 and DX11 version http://jp.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/blog/
My question is, how do you think this will affect a slightly older graphics card?
You'll more likely have some new graphical options to disable intensive effects like ambiant occlusion and reflections... So, in the end, you'll still be able to experience the game like it is on DX9, but with improved performances.
Just disable GPU intensive effects and you'll be good.

DX11 should be ok for your card, it make your card run the game more smoothly, dx11 ran perfect on my old gtx580 back in 1.0's dx 11

I do not recall 1.0 ever supporting dx11.

Originally I didnt notice much of a difference between the two shots other than shiny floors.. Until I saw this!!
I cannot wait for DX 11.
I just hope that the weird haze that seemed to plague DX9 games, is fixed with DX11 :O

Thanks for this, I could barely see the difference lol.
I wish the Benchmark was out, I can play on MAX with usually no problems unless
some Grid places without a lot of shrubbery...the Benchmark needs me be out so people can start getting upgrade replacements if needed.

Sorry if I missed this piece of information, but have they said anything about when they would release the DX11 client?
They keep saying with Heavensward, but if thats the case, who wants to sit 2-4hrs patching the whole 2.0 client up to 3.0 again and miss out on EA time.
I hope that they release it like a couple of days before hand to give us time to upgrade for when the big 3.0 patch hit.
