    Fresh 50 Looking for advice

I recently hit 50 DRG a few days ago and immediately started working on the relic > zodiac weapon quest line.

I just finished getting the Atma weapon and now looking at the immensity that is the quest for Trial of the Braves, i'm not sure how long it will take to get from here to finishing Zeta. I have read that some people are saying to not bother and others saying there is time enough to do an entire Zeta line or two by the time Heavensward hits.

I'm leaning towards not doing it and just using my Atma until I grab an i110 or better. My main concern with not going for it is there enough to do outside the main story line to keep me busy until the expansion?(Playing 30-40 hours weekly)

The other thought too is what reward Zeta holders may get for having it completed already, I know it's all speculation at this point but i'd hate to be kicking myself in 3 months when finishing the Zeta weapon now would have saved me a ton of work later.

Be prepared my friend it is a journey not ment for all but if you should wish for true power then walk it and both enjoy and curse it.

Its not for every one but if you want a good weapon its worth it. You should maybe be able to get most of it done in a month. Probably.

If you're confused about it, then just do it as you go. Pick up the quest and do an objective here and there when there isn't anything else to do.

There's still enough time to do it from where you are right now, but it's going to take almost all the time you have left and it's probably going to cost you quite a bit of gil.

Honestly, even though you can technically do it, I probably wouldn't. By the time you're done with the Zeta you will have built a weapon to help you level up. And that's about it. If you want to do it for the accomplishment, by all means full steam ahead. But if you're just looking for a functional weapon, pick up your soldiery weapon while you work on the poetics one. Almost as good a weapon, way less time.

It seems like you have quite a bit of time to play, in the end its up to you. I would say go for it, myself I'm nearing the end of my first and only one I will be doing. It gives you a long term goal and a bit of structure on what to do (since many of the optional dungeons are included in it, it can help you if you aren't sure/have been neglecting to do your first time for them).

That said unless you are already rich I would suggest not optimizing it (IE no t4 materias, which is the step after what you are on now.) Otherwise there is still quite a bit in the game to do, with the hours you posted you should be able to tide yourself over for the most part. More so if you are going for the Coil raids as well.

You can get an upgraded poetic weapon (i130) in less than 3 weeks if you start at zero poetic balance, less once they remove the poetic weekly cap. Every other (relevant) weapon besides Zeta and FCoB weapons can be had in significantly less time.

There is about 2 and 1/2 months before the expansion. It all depends on how you want to spend that time, but since you play pretty frequently, you could definitely make a Zeta for your favorite job while simultaneously gearing all your other jobs as well.

Thanks for the advice all, I think i'll get the Trials underway and work on it as I do other things to catch up.

I didn't even really think about that, one concern was using a sub-par relic weapon doing content. But could definitely get the Augmented Iron Works as my first purchase with the Poetics and switch over as I get the Zeta completed.

What are your goals? If you plan on running coil and such (even if you don't mind you) then i would say do your Relic. Do not rush it and burn yourself out however.
While you do work on Relic you can get the Augmented Ironworks weapon or Shiva weapon which would suffice also.
My thoughts on the "reward" for those that already have zeta is it will be something far less then most players would be expecting.
Stash as much Alexandrites as you can, even when you do finish your Novus continue to collect alexandrite just in case you decide to do another Relic

Goals...I think my main goal at the moment is to get all the Duty Roulette's unlocked and complete the main story arc(thank goodness DPS queue's aren't as bad as they were leveling up).

I consider myself a fairly seasoned MMO veteran but don't think I've ever been as intimidated freshly reaching end game as with FF14 then any other game perhaps besides starting EVE. The sheer amount of one off dungeons and trials I need to complete to qualify for Duty Roulette, combined with the amount of soldiery tokens for weathered gear and for the trial/relic upgrade quests seems like a staggering amount.

My biggest issue about nearly any MMO is not enough end game content, so I guess I can't complain when one offers me so much.

Hunts reward handsomely with soldiery. It's fairly easy to cap soldiery in a day via hunts as well as gain a lot of allied seals for Poetic augments/Alexandrite.
