I would very much enjoy if you had to be face to face in order to send friend invites. Heck, link friends list with the people that can /tell you up to about level 20 or so and I would be happy.

Ah, another modern medicine situation.... give the people a pill to mask a problem without addressing the underlying cause, yay!
Those of you that are in support of this idea, enjoy declining friend requests every few minutes!

Really though, RMT suck, but band-aid solutions never *solve* anything. It's just like when 2.0 came out and everyone wanted SE to put in an auto-logout timer for people staying idle to hold a spot on the server. I'd rather SE focus their efforts 100% on combating the actual problem, not masking it with a solution that clearly is going to inconvenience a lot of people.

I'd actually be quite fine with the ability to toggle on/off the blocking of random tells and friend request - and smart enough to toggle it ON if I actually wanted them. I don't see it as an inconvenience at all - tired of running busy and not being able to get tells from friends.

I don't see the problem with better options. /say and /shout still exist as ways to communicate for those who really need to make contact with the blocked. It's not as though this isn't an improvement from the trend of everyone going /busy.
Yeah it might be a band-aid solution, but I don't see any other solutions proposed. Just arguing against it for the sake of arguing.
