Why isn't there a shortage of healers?

This has just left me wondering...

Although I know healers aren't exactly in a bad position for queue times, why is it we have such a huge tank shortage? The image seems to indicate there should be more tanks compared to healers...

That chart suggests to me that players are inclined to try tank and not stick with it, whereas it could be the case that fewer players abandon the healer role early on.

There is also only one healer from levels 1-29 even now.

The chart is only taking into account classes up to level 30. Since there's only one healer class at that level range (CNJ) and two tank classes (MRD + GLD), that would probably be why there's about double the amount of tanks as there are healers.

It would be interesting to see what percentage of the DPS are actually ACN as they have the potential to be both a healer and a DPS.

I made a mistake in grabbing the URL for the 1 to 30 image instead of the 30 to 50 one. The contrast is less stark but it's still there. Although... the key does seem to indicate that only CNJ is being considered still (so do these graphs count SCHs as ACNs and thus DPS..?)

I don't think it considers SCH at all. Is this a census conducted in 2014 for 2013 data?

Will have to agree with Cynfael, it looks like despite having two healer jobs, they're only collating data on the single healer class.

from the 38% dps lies a portion where sch are since they come from acn, which is a dps class. this leads to a safe conclusion that tanks are still at the bottom since there's this unknown issue that needs to be addressed to encourage players to main tanking classes.

Oh, hmm, I just kind of glossed over that in favor of the role breakdown. Then... We have 24% healers, 21% tanks.

So a 1:1:2 party ratio is pretty close on for healing, but a little off for tanks. Interesting.

Because many people like myself, have every DPS class leveled to 50, and I Q as healer 99% of the time.
