Ban People for Leaving Duties right away

I am getting tired of people joining a duty, especially for the most recent two. Chrysalis and Steps of Faith and people leaving right away.

I think it would be fair to ban people for a day for consistently leaving. There are people that need to complete these and rely on the help of others and when people just leave because they don't like it half an hour ban isn't really a good enough since there is so many other things you can do.

It's really annoying, just did the Chrysalis for a friend and we have roughly 9 people join and leave right away. It was a really smooth run too, but people need to be punished for for leaving all the time.

    ***Edit***
Or ban then from doing any duties for that day or something more sever then a half hour wait.

It's not that I need help, I can get through it. I've already completed every time have been trying to help the people in my FC, people come in Steps of Faith and are like, "Oh shit it's this one not again I hate this one" then proceed to leave. Not everyone in my FC is all caught up, almost all of them are, but we still don't have a full party of 8 ready to beat it. I beat it on the first night, but people need to have a more sever punishment. I'm not saying after one, but it you leave duties let's say 3 times in one day, then get banned from being able to do a duty for the rest of that day.

It's bloody bullshit that people leave the moment they enter a duty because they don't want to do it. No one wants to help out new players and it is having a negative affect on some people.

Especially Chysalis and Steps of Faith have their rewards badly tuned.

Instead of swinging the ban-hammer, offering an incentive for players to stay would help both sides more.

I think the first thing that needs to be understood here is the differences in playstyle and the audience that FFXIV targets. FFXIV attempts to level the playing field for various playstyles and I think despite the impossibility to completely satisfy everyone they do an incredibly good job.
That said, people are free to take a penalty when presented with content they do not wish to endure - just like in the same nature you and your friends (or other players) are free to create a party through Free Company's, Linkshells, friend lists or Party Finder to avoid the hassle of Duty Finder. When you use Duty Finder you should take into account you are welcoming people of many different playstyles into your party and that you have to work together with them to complete the duty. If they don't like your style of play, they are free to leave.

Now, I do not enjoy Duty Finder personally because of this and various other factors and I loathe the days where my choices are 'use duty finder for missing people or just don't do this particular content' but when I do, I am going in with the understanding that people whom I may not particularly like for many reasons are the ones I will have to work with to get through this content.

I'm just pointing out there are options out there new players can take advantage of to help alleviate the need to leave themselves to the terrors of DF. It's not 100% but then, not 100% of the people you meet in DF will abandon you in a heartbeat or aren't terrible people (in one way or another).

Not everyone has a static, or a circle of friends. That said, for them, DF is all they have.

If there's any need for a lockout, I think the whole 3-strikes-you're-out thing would be going a little overboard. Sure, if that person is the type of tank/healer that's such a princess that they feel they can cherry-pick through roulette until they get one of the handful that they like, then they could probably afford to learn some consideration for others, but on the other hand if they've been through Steps of Faith so many times that they're ready to pull their hair out and snap at every little mistake then it wouldn't be fair to either them or the party to make them stay. You'd also have to figure in the number of drops in things like WoD etc. that don't do any actual harm to the party or the community, and also if there's a large enough percentage of players dropping from roulettes so many times in a single day to cause enough of an issue for other players that it would need a lockout. I doubt there's that many players that normally drop party in df roulettes that many times a day, most of them it's probably just once or twice.

I think the 30 min ban is adequate. It not only punishes them but keeps them from being a punk for 30 min, if they queue again after and do it again it's another 30 min. Plus people like that will quit eventually and make a post that says the ban is too long. It's a good policy and 30 min isn't too bad if it's a mistake, which we all make.

That's not even true. Hasn't been since what, 2.1?

I think you should be thankful they have a 30 min penalty. It wasn't there before.

The penalty was implanted in 2.1 if not 2.2. Imagine a tank leaving a daily roulette because he/she didn't like the dungeon! Easy peasy.. they leave and DF for the daily roulette again with insta-que & insta-commence! While the others wait for the tank.. especially if DPSs are leveling up or ques for daily with thier waiting times!

I see the 30 min penalty is fair, Me and many other have very limited time to play daily (30 min is 25% of my average playing time).. Not everyone has +8 hrs to play everyday. Yet I think increasing the Penalty time to 50 min for the INSTA-QUITTERS is a fair call. (so in both cases 20 min is couted whether he/she tries for a clear, or insta-leave duty).

BUT, that won't solve the case... Since after the 30 min penalty was implanted.. you have now the AFK'ers & the D/C'ers... Those I hate more than the insta-leavers. They force you to push them out and they get clean hands while you're stuck.
