    Gold Saucer vs. Battle Square - :(

    The one thing I really was hoping with the Gold Saucer was the Coliseum.

    I remember one of the funner things in FF7 was the gauntlet where you'd fight ever more deadly mobs, and if i remember right, as you'd go you'd get handicapped.

    Where is that? We need that. Can I have that?


    EDIT - Guess it was called Battle Square, on further googling.

    Like everything in FFXIV so far, the Gold Saucer will receive updates. I'm sure we'll see this someday.

    It's a good idea for a game like this. A coliseum - like add on (accompanied by previous bosses) is very popular in games like Tales Of, and I'd love to see something similar in 14. Maybe even add glamor rewards to incite replay value :x

    Coil is pretty much your Coliseum, but most players don't actually want that.

    I'd rather have the submarine game myself. Or the snowboarding one.

    That's probably just because Coil is endgame raid content, involving more than just yourself (i.e. a single player). I'd imagine the Battle Square to have a decent amount of participation by Gold Saucer activity standards, more than Chocobo Racing anyway, assuming they follow the trend of solo player activity.

    I actually mentioned this idea in an older thread a while ago and it seemed to have a lot of interest. As I stated then, I'd really only like to see it if it was not a PvP event but rather a PvE event just like FFVII's Battle Square, complete with a similar system of handicaps of increasing difficulty afflicting the player as they advance through each round of enemies (but with the potential reward increasing in value).

    It would also have to be balanced in such a way that it compensates for each class/Job so that healers are not steamrolled and tanks just blitz through it. It would definitely be an interesting idea to built from.
