Will this not lead to "Ah I won't log in during the week, I'll cap when the bonus is up", for example?

Sure it will, for some. But the idea of double weekends isn't to hold them so regularly as to make them trivial. I think most people will simply be playing the game as normal while taking extra advantage of the weekend for extras or catch-up. It's how it's always worked with games which ran similar events.
This idea gets my full support. Double nexus light would be a great weekend too. It already takes an age to get anywhere with it.
I'd really like to see a change in roulette bonusses so they stack up like guildleves and you can burn through them all at once if you want, instead of having to do them daily. Maybe cap them at 3 or 5 or something, but just make it so it doesn't feel like such a laundry list of chores you need to complete each day.
And I like the idea of bonus weekends in general, it's a good way of encouraging people to get more involved in gameplay modes they wouldn't usually touch. A general XP/currency bonus would be kind of boring, but things like hunt/PVP bonusses, extra FATE rewards, extra rewards from synced-down content, stuff like that.
There is no 'punishment' involved in bonus windows. If a player doesn't log in during the weekend, then so be it. If I miss a bonus light window was I punished? Not participating in the window doesn't hurt your current progress, rather taking part only enhances it. However, when avenues for optimal progression limit the ways in which a player can enjoy their time logged in, I am obliged to remember how often and enthusiastically the development team preaches options and diversity to achieve goals.
Double exp weekends? Some bonus in the weekends?...
ARE YOU CRAZY?.... DO YOU WANT TO.... Make this little noob who can only play the weekends happy?... >_<...
Thread total approval, OP like.
